Breakfast at my house

I enjoy making my own bread. Sure, it's a bit of work (I don't have a bread machine), but hey: the house smells nice when it's baking; I can experiment with different herbs, nuts, etc., and so on.

This morning, I went to pour my coffee, turned around, and this is what I saw:

I am now beginning to wonder if all the bread-making efforts are actually worth it...
:)

On a more serious note, things really are going well with Eliza and Henry. No fights--not even a squabble at this point. True, Henry is more interested in Eliza than the other way around. That may be because she's totally bonded with me and has had me to herself for nearly a year. But she doesn't object when he comes over to perch with her on one of the play-stands.

I remain very careful and keep a close watch on them when they're both out. As cute as this photo may be, it was a valuable lesson to me: don't turn my back on them for a second, as this could have turned out to be a serious fight. I also give them separate times out of the cage; it's useful for training Henry, as he's just a baby. Plus, it helps me (I hope!) to establish with them who the "head bird" is around here!

Best to all,
Derek

I'm currently bird-proofing the house. Maybe I should include plates with lids on them.

Great picture!

Yey! Happy to hear they're doing well. Might not be best friends but at the very least tolerating each other! Might start making my own birdy bread but I'm a fussy eater so herbs etc would be useless for me to eat and Ive only got four birds to feed, small ones at that. Id end up making a huge loaf and it going off before they eat it!

I know what you mean! It's painful isn't it?! Chocolate, avocado, etc...whenever I want to have any of those, I have to sneak it into another room and lock the door!

Yegads! My own house has become my boarding school! I'm too old for this!

Based on my own experiences, make sure the lids have padlocks on them...

That's an excellent point--they're definitely not best friends at this point, but they are tolerant of each other. If there had been continual overt hostility, then I think I migbt have (reluctantly, to be sure) had to return Henry.

Birdy bread? Sure, I like making stuff for the birds, but that was supposed to be MY bread/toast! Sometimes I get the feeling that if either one of them ever figures out the alarm code for the house, I'll never be able to get back in here...
