Veggies, fruit, pellets, millet and other seeds. Mostly veggies, fruit and pellets. I feed my guy 3 different kinds of pellets. Lol Also, sprouts and cooked foods. They make cooked blends especially for birds that you can order offline or find at bird shops. Hope this helps!!

It's kind of a thing you have to decide for yourself after talking to an avian vet. I personally think pellets should only consist of maybe 30-40% of the diet, but most everybody says 70-80% should be pellets. Only you can make that decision.

The mad gang live on a diet made up of high quality seeds ( loro Paqque mix) 60%, the rest being made up of a wide range of fruits and veggies. They have a very sweet tooth so they sometimes get health muffins etc as well. This morning they had some of my salt free muesli ( no milk either). Ant they like wet soft foods....

and anything Im eating......

Oh, french fries, beer, bratwurst, wine, ice cream...the usual...

Seriously, much the same as everyone here: pellets, fresh fruit (note to self: do not leave a nice, fresh crisp apple on the counter, and then turn your back on it to get a plate), veggies, etc. My vet did recommend a bit ]of the seed mixture along with the pellets, but it's still weighted heavily on the pellet side.

And--as has already been mentioned on this thread--they are intensely interested in anything I'm eating or drinking!
:)

We're about 60% pellets. For dinner, they have a bowl of fresh fruits or vegetables. We'll put them on the table and they'll eat with us.

It's been said before, but whatever I'm eating is way better than what they have, even if it's the same thing.

The rest is the beer, brats, ice cream, & French fries. These little guys know how to party.

On a side note, it's really tough to type with one hand.

Wow...they let you have one hand free? Bunsen and Beaker must be in an exceptionally generous mood today!

Hah! You know Caiques too well. The fire alarm chirped twice across the apartment complex, and it scared the crap out of the birds. They were Pionus-calm for like 10 minutes. It was really weird.

If someone can explain to me how birds that make such a racket get scared when something else makes a racket, I'd appreciate it. :p

Based on my experience with Eliza and Henry, they are concentrating deeply on memorizing the exact sound of the fire alarm. Then, when you least expect it, they'll test out their new noise on you...

I am new to caiques but I am feeding about 50% seed and 50% fruit/veggies/sprouts. This is similar to what the breeder that I got them from was doing.

For my gang ( 8) I use a blend og high quality seed mix ( mostly Versele-Laga) as a base, about 60%. To which I add a lot of fruit and veggies. They prefer their veggies soft and love corn and peas

Caiques have a sweet tooth, and they get apple and orange every day as well

Ours are weird. They like veggies more than fruit. Anything with a pod is their favorite. They like to tear stuff up to get to their food.

I have a baby Caique who seems finicky. First, she will NOT eat pellets. (My other Caique refused to eat pellets, as well.) Second, she basically only eats cashews, walnuts and pistachios. She gets plenty of healthy fresh vegetables and fruits. I just want to give her the best nutrition. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Māui (white bellied caique)
Maui gets fresh chop daily (all veges with quinoa/brown rice/oats to soak up moisture), a handful of pellets in the evening, and has leafy greens, veges, and some fruits to forage during the day. Also fresh herbs from the garden to chew on. Sometimes a wildflower from the garden. Seeds are sometimes hidden in a foraging wood block, but pinenuts are used daily for training treats.

I agree. Mine non caique, eat a ton of stuff. And I have lots of pellets. Some days they just eat pellets as chosen by them, the rest of the time about 30-40 % pellets most the rest is veggies.plunty of stealing from my plate!!
Rare fruits are plums ( wild or cultivate by me) pomegranate, cranberries, cherries, blackberries, blue berries. I don't give grapes but maybe twice a year. A couple of beak fulls of scrambled eggs when I have them
