Hey fellow bird lovers! This is an update from Pixie the wonder-Caique. Since she will be a year old in April its about time for an update! Pixie was the little girl who benefited from so much of the great advice we found on this forum last spring and summer. She is still somewhat small and continues to be a little diva! Some of you may remember she had a couple of nasty falls in her cage as a young chick which resulted in bruising her beak. Well she continues to play hard but thankfully has grown much more coordinated and able to match her crazy stunts with a great set of wings and very strong legs. She still sleeps on her side with her head sticking out of the top of her blanket in the fleece bed I made for her and probably behaves more human than bird. I thought those that remember her would appreciate an updated picture.
We are seeing some feather pulling since both adults started working night shifts so we are trying some different approaches to remedy that behavior before it becomes habitual. Now that things have settled down a bit at home I am hoping to get back here regularly again.
Looking forward to seeing some old and new faces/feathers!
Shauna and Rick

Shauna, welcome back! I am so thrilled to see new pics of the gorgeous Pixie!
I'm so glad her coordination is better than when she was a baby:)

Great to see Pixie back (oh, um, yeah...and you and Rick too...). :p

Lovely photo! Tell Pixie not to get too concerned...I'm in my 50s and my coordination hasn't improved one bit since my childhood. So Pixie is well ahead of the game! :D

Pixie is gorgeous!
2 thoughts tho -

1) feathers: looks like a lot of wear and tear there. Looks unusual to me ( I have 11 of these little monsters)
2) Beak length - upper mandible looks v long?

have fun with Pixie!
