Aviator harness

I bought Oliver an Aviator. The store helped me put it on him. Color I chose, was green. That was a mistake. I thought good at the time but duh!..... I can't see what I'm doing. It's the same color as his wings. So I exchanged for red. Can't go wrong there. Lol!! Anyway, my sister in law brought up a point with me today. We live in New Jersey and there have been in the past Hawks in our area from time to time. She said the will swoop and snatch him up, but..... My question. Will they? I understand if he's like feathered outside on a play stand alone on the porch or yard with us around. That would be silly. But if he is on us out S holder or hand will they snatch him? Do they really come that close to us humans to snatch a bird?

yes they will.I take sissy with me places,but when we are outside..I keep her close.can never be to careful.

Ok. Well, I will keep him on harness and close like arm it shoulder and be aware. That's sad. Thank you. You both live in New Jersey? Just not familiar with all avian predators in our state? I have never owned a bird that you could actually take out in harness. Most captive bred but untame. It's sad we can't take our birds out without this fear. And most advocate then having free flight. Some of which cannot provide or have the room for flight cages. Maybe one should enterprise a bird flight studio for this purpose. Good idea. Anyone interested I may be able to help look into it.

Yes they will!! Yesterday I was sitting in my garage and watched as a hawk swooped over my 40 lb. dog running across the pasture. The hawk was really thinking about it!

Holy.... that guy must have gotten cut up pretty bad. And the poor 'too - bet he was traumatized big time. We have a few small hawks on Long Island, but Salty would be a small snack too. Suddenly harness training is not so high on my priority list.

Caiques are treetop dwellers

Putting one outside on a stand, tied with a harness, is really animal abuse.

I have a huge indoor avairy with a big see through perspex roof. Given a choice, the caiques ( 13) sit all round the edges of the skylight, high up in the shadows playing.

They rarely choose to sit in the open
