Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
But I've been offered a caique...

Only thing is, I don't have any little birds anymore. My smallest bird is a lilac crowned amazon.

They're fun birds, but... I just think he'd be intimidated in my flock.

He's dive bombing his present owner, who has no inclination to train the bird.

Not sure what I'm gonna do on this one... Sarah would love this bird...

BUT I need another bird like I need a hole in my head...

Unless it's Maggie... I still need Maggie to come home.

I have the opposite issue. Someone recently offered me a B&G. My entire flock is small birds and none of the equipment or current social situations I have are conducive to adding a beak that big to the mix, even if I had room for another bird.

Whaaaaaaat did I just watch?

One of life's classics!
Hate to say it, most of the Monty crew reminds me of my birds! Scary humor, frightful logic!

With that trip down 'Memory' Lane, that segment address so many reasons why Parrot Owners are (go) Crazy! "My Head Hurts."

Well Mark, with caiques the name of the game changes from "Pass the Birdie" to: "Find the Birdie." The game is also much simpler to play: The lucky Human is placed in the center with the others in a circle around him or her. The caique is placed on the person in the center and then everyone turns fully around. So, the game starts: Find The Birdie. The individual in the center cannot help the others!

The game could be played with you in the center and circled by your existing flock. Where's the Birdie?

Hole in the head, not much research, something about the lights going out quickly and a bit messy on the clean-up!

Sometimes it helps to be known as that Amazon Only Snob!

No easy place with not easy answer!

Mark have you had caiques before?

Played with them down at the rescue never brought one home... Played with quite a few. They're fun little birds... BUT... I don't need big/bird small bird issues right now. And I have my hands full with a certain baby big mac..,

I've thought about getting another caique. Oliver is 14 months old, and we aren't absolute he is a he. So I would have to DNA first, then look for a friend but I'm afraid it will take away from who he is, and if I did get another, I suppose it would have to be his age, never a baby correct? And housed separately? He is very social, but when I go back to work, in September, ( school teacher) he will be alone during the day. Last year he had a long day and was so attention seeking he would scream, and scream until I was settled and able to give him attention. So that's why I'm thinking a friend? But not sure.

Adding a second caique turned out well for me and mine. My first was insistent and needy (though no worse than some other parrots I've had experience with), but adding the second worked wonders. She's still the one who wants to be in my business a lot, but it's not all the time. And I think the fact that she can play like a bird with another bird–in a way in which I am probably a poor substitute–is a good way for her to expend energy, making her less frenetic when I'm interacting with her.

I'm at home most of the day with mine, but I'd hazard a guess that if yours is going to be home alone more in the future, having that second would be beneficial. Of course, multiply everything else that comes with caique ownership by two... I kind of like all that other caique stuff, though...minus the poop of course.

Now that we're into October, what did you decide to do? How is it going?
