2nd Caique for Existing Caique

So I have a 5 year old male White Bellied Caique and I was wondering if it is -okay to find him a partner/play buddy this late into the game. I heard that you typically wanna introduce a second caique 0-12 months in but this is already 5 years in. May I have some insight on this?

Never get a bird for your bird unless you have the time and money to house them and interact with them completely separately (forever) . There is a lot that can go wrong.

Make sure you want a second bird for YOU (knowing the possible consequences ahead of time). This includes possible bonding issues (in which you play "second-fiddle" to the new bird, as well as potential aggression, babies etc)...

If they don't get along (or get along too well) you must have the time and money to provide their out-of-cage time separately at at least 2-3 hours each...
They may LOVE each other and become sexual/weird with you, HATE each other and try to fight daily or find some middle-ground, but it is impossible to know ahead of time.

Noodles said it -- only get a bird if you want one, because there is no telling if the new bird will like the old bird, or vice versa. Two of my male cockatiels cannot be around each other as they WILL attack and go after each other. I deal with it by letting them out separately and giving them each exercise and space on their own.

Prepare for the worst (the birds will hate each other), and hope for the best (that they'll become friends)

I know you are Hoping for caique owners to weigh in, and I hope they do.

I have a big flock, 2 love eachother, 2 hate eachother, and the rest are only tolerates eachother. So it's a juggle, and constant supervision. The two haters are getting better as they don't fly to fight Anymore. But they easily take offense at perceived parrot social faux pas, then all heck breaks loose!

i got another to go with my green thigh caique, they are kept separate but come out to play, they are not best mates but will occasionally prune each other, my little girl loves only me, my boy will go to my hubby and son, but spends most of his time with me. it’s a gamble, be prepared to have separate time with each bird if they are not happy.
