New cockatiel for my granddaughter!

My 11 year old granddaughter loves my parrots and has wanted one for the last year. So for her birthday we decided she was responsible enough to get her first bird. We bought her a hand raised cockatiel that had belonged to another little girl that could not keep it any longer. My granddaughter is so excited with this little bird. It rides on her shoulder pretty much non stop. It is the cutest, sweetest little bird! It is a perfect match for her!!! I am so excited for her, so I just had to share!!

Thank you for sharing. Tiels are great little birds for kids & grown ups.

I am boarding the sweetest little tiel. He talks all day long. The owners are picking him up today, I sure will miss him when he goes.

Congratulations,,, My son who is turning 11 this month just got his first tiel too.Im having a very hard time keeping my hands off.They are so cute and sweet.

I'm so glad to hear that your grand daughter loves her new little buddy! My daughter has wanted her own bird as well, she is 11 as well! she helps me alot with my cag Dorothy, and our Lilac crown. However our amazon is a rescue and she can be quite difficult, in fact now spring has come and she is down right grouchy! Dorothy is the sweetest but she can be a little stubborn for anyone other than me. Since Lili has been so helpful and gets such joy out of our birds I thought the time was right! We went to the breeder where she fell in love with a baby lutino. We had a dna done on him and he is in fact a he. We are waiting for him to be weaned (should be about 1-2 more weeks) She can hardly stand it! We should let the girls pm each other about their new babies!

Thanks jewels04, MikeyTN, and brianlinkles. Yes brianlinkles, we should let the girls pm about their new buddies! Tell Lili congrats on her soon to be new buddy! It is so exciting! My granddaughter spent the weekend with us and she of course brought her new baby with her. We had so much fun. I taught her how to clean the cage, and went over all the Do's and Don'ts again with her. We bought some more toys for Amira (her bird). Amira already loves her! And she ADORES Amira! They will for sure be best buddies for a very long time!!
