well here we go again, like I need another bird, lol. :)
oh my goodness, It's anyones guess why she wasn't sold before, they sure missed out on one sweet bird, their loss is my gain!!
I just got her last week, she's a real puddle, so very sweet and calm, she steps up on command to anyone, and loves being patted, she's just 9 weeks old. she had a bit of a rough start here, I guess she was not use to all the birds, noise, etc... so she started puffing up a little, and not eating...so I put her with my male Num Num, who is 6 months old,he took a liking to her, and he got her eating and feeling comfortable....way to go Num Num!
she's doing very well now, and has settled right in. she's in her cage with Num Num for half the day, and has free flight and play time, and r & r for the rest of the day.
she even eats pellets, I just love her.

My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
Congratulations on your new birdie! She seems very relaxed in those pictures. I'm glad everything is working out well and that she is already becoming a great little friend.

Is it just me, or do hookbill birds look like they are always smiling? :D

ha!, I noticed that too, if a bird is happy it shows, it looks like they are smiling :)
she has settled in very nicely here now, and is very much a part of our family, gets along well with my other cockatiels.

I hope you've practiced Quarantine before introducing them together! I trusted a lady in the past when I first started and her bird was carrying a virus that wiped out most of my flock and cost me a huge vet bill curing the rest....Safety first! Beautiful baby none the less....

good advice, I to learned the hard way. when I first started breeding and not knowing any better, I got a cockatiel that had red mites. It affected my entire flock, with a whopping vet bill to boot. Not only did the avian vet NOT diagnose the bird with mites, my good friend helped me treat all my birds on my own, and now I practice quarantine and prevention.
I think someone should do a very good article on quarantine and prevention!!, it would have helped me, and will probably help others as well :)
thank you again for all your suggestions
