We are picking up two cockatiels that need a new home. The guy said they are friendly but I'm sure we'll be working on this when we get home and they settle in. Anyways the cage the birds share is ofcourse too small for one, let alone two tiels. I was thinking of just leaving them be for now and than when they get a little more comfortable giving their own seperate appropriate sized cages. Would this be a good idea or no? They would still be in the same room but just not caged together. I'm not sure how old they are or how long they have been together so not sure if this would do more harm than good?

If bonded (do they preen each other?) i would start looking for a cage for both of them.

Not sure we haven't physically seen the birds just via facebook chat. Will they be able to be tamed if bonded? I never had bonded birds before but I would atleast be happy if I could take them out of their cage to a playstand.

I agree with Shelly, although I'd recommend a cage upgrade sooner rather than later.

Casey is my first cockatiel and hand raised. She currently lives with 3 other cockatiels and she's not any less tame because of it. I used to have a setup where all my little birds were cage-free and I was able to get even my most skittish cockatiel would fly to my hand for food. Well, he got to the point that he'd fly on me even if I didn't have food and wait for me to get him some! :)

I will get the new cage asap i'm trying to figure out how large to get it and etc. But I wanted to leave them in their familiar cage for a few nights anyways until they were used to us.
