Pellets for cockatiels?

Hey,

I feed my fids on quality seed mix, fruit and veggies with some nuts added as treats.

I was just wondering, would pellets be a good base diet for cockatiels? Or could it be too much for cockatiels? I would add a little seed and the obv fruit and veg?

I was looking at Harrison's, any ideas? :white1:

No, all can eat Harrison's. It comes in three sizes. Harrison's was scientifically developed by vets and avian nutritionists to be a "complete" diet (unlike other pellets). They recommend if you feed other foods too, to keep it to a minimum, as this could offset the nutrient balance. Seed or fruit should just be a treat food. This is a bit different from other bird pellets, and those of us who have used this product for many years have experienced proven results!

Harrison's fine should be fine. Or even TOPS crumbles would be good too

I started out feeding pellets to cockatiel years ago but I found out that they do better on a mixture other then pellets. That's why I do a seed mix with pellets.

Super fine(harrison's) is best for cockatiels, it was designed for the smaller birds who need a bit less protein. the fine and course size has more protein than they need, and can do more harm than good in the long run.

I feed my tiel "Goldenfeast gold'n obbles III" - they're all natural, and he readily ate them from the beginning. Tiels can be notoriously picky.

Harrison's has a (leaner) Lifetime formula which comes in all three
sizes, and also a High Potency formula (more protein and fat) that comes in all sizes too

I'm just not a fan of Harrison's and the company is located right here near by, I drive by it to go to work daily....There's been lots of discussions on Harrison's foods on here as some don't like it either and post everything about them on here at one point.
