Cockatiel noise level around other birds?

Good Morning!

I currently have four budgies, and am considering buying one or two cockatiels. Right now I'm still in the research & supplies collecting stage, but I just had a question about their noise level. From what I understand, they aren't extremely loud, as compared to some of the larger birds -- obviously depending on the individual, the time of day & other factors. My main concern is how loud they will be when they are eventually housed in the same room as my budgies. Will being this close to other birds cause them to get louder? From my experience with budgies, the noise level increased quite a bit when I went from two to four budgies, as it's like they try to compete with each other -- will cockatiels try to be louder then the budgies? I'm fine with constant chatter, whistling & the occasional screaming, but sun-conure level screeching might cause a problem for me, because I have neighbors living above me.

Any information you have regarding cockatiel noise levels & behaviour in the presence of other birds would be greatly appreciated.

The more the birds the louder it gets, and they often try to outdo each other. Personally, I thinks tiels have beautiful voices. Yup it'll be loud, but chirpy, pretty-sounding loud, as opposed to loud squawking.

I agree with Kalidasa. The more birds you get, the louder it gets.

Cockatiel's don't really sqauwk like a Sun Conjure. Their voices sound lighter, higher-toned. Kiko doesn't scream unless he sees me leaving him, or if he sees the cat. Sometimes he screams when he's excited or hungry. His scream is high-pitched and whistly, much more pretty and quite than most other Parrots. Cockatiel's tend to mimic whistles and sounds rather than talking, although they can learn words. Not many though... Kiko says his name, Peekaboo, and "what". The squirrel sounds and bird sounds are more of his thing.

I can definitely handle more noise if it's whistly and chirpy, as opposed to squawking.

I have two budgies housed with 6 Cockatiels and the noise is not that bad. Usually one or two is singing away while the other ones plays or sleeping. They'll have the occasional scream but nothing bad. The only thing is the boys is the ones that makes most of the noise as they sing and carrying on.

Females are not as loud as males, and as far as them being as noisy as other birds, that depends on what kind of bird you're talking about. At least cockatiels, in my experience, don't screach or squawk, which can be super hard on the ears. While my tiel is a very vocal male, he whistles his calls for the most part, and I can easily deal with that, it's even melodious to my ears.

As you can see, it really depends on the individual person as to what is tolerable. Personally, I think Cockatiels are beautiful and cute, but the sound I find annoying. My two Budgies constant sounds are annoying too though. I had no idea Budgies could be so loud (in volume) for their body size when they have a screaming fit! I'm familiar with the sound of large birds as I've had my own before, and still I'm astounded how loud the tiny Budgies can be :11:

I am very intolerant of noise. My weiros are right outside my bedroom. One of them learnt the sound of my impact drill that I was using to fix my galah's cage. She performs as the drill in the morning. I don't find it remotely annoying. The pitch, tone, and volume are not irritating to me at all. I think pitch bothers me most. My new dog has a very high-pitched bark which is awful to hear. I think high-pitched screaming would be a problem, but not this (even though it sounds like it should be annoying). My budgies used to be in that cage, and nothing they ever said, no matter how loud ever annoyed me, I loved hearing whatever they said.

What I like is that my tiel does certain calls, one when he's content, one when he wants me nearby, or just to make sure I'm there, and one when he's just frustrated. It's fascinating to me how animals communicate, especially birds. He even likes to vocalize when he's playing with his toys. I find some of his vocalizations to be similar to a very small cockatoo (which is what they are), like the "ha ha ha" sound he does. However, he doesn't scream or yell anything like a large cockatoo. I think once you become acclimated to large parrots or some of the noiser small parrots, like sun conures, you don't really hear a tiel. Everyone is different however.

I find groups of budgies noisier then groups of cockatiels. But they don't bother me as I used to lay in bed and listen to them sing first thing in the morning when I used to raise them. I had a bunch of tiels and budgies in a large flight aviary.

I quite enjoy the sounds my four budgies make, even when the two males get into squawking fits. Before I moved, I used to have them in the same room as my television, and they could easily get loud to the point where I couldn't hear the tv anymore.
My main concern with getting a cockatiel right now was that a constant loud squawking might annoy the people who live above me. Honestly though, every time I've asked them about my budgies being noisy, they say they cant hear them, even though they're loud enough for me to hear outside when I'm walking up to the house lol.
I'm perfectly fine with any amount of noise a cockatiel makes, and from what I understand now, cockatiels generally don't make the amount of noise that would cause me any issues, or the type of squawking sound that would become annoying.
