Bruski the 'tiel accepted requested scritches for the first time today!

Aaaaaah! So super excited and I was dying to share the excitement with someone as my husband won't be home until the morning!

Bruski was adopted from a local rescue 6 months ago. He is turning 8 this year and is very much like a cat in the sense that he will come to me if he wants some love and attention and flies back to his cage when he is over it, lol!

I was told he might not ever be accepting of scritches and to this day, I was beginning to believe it. That all changed as he awoke from sleeping on my thigh (he likes to sit behind my laptop where the warm air comes out and grooms and naps after stealing some of my lunch each day).

I reached over to collect some of his feathers that had dropped as he is going through a molt, and there he went and bowed his head and let me give him a gentle touch - eek!

I rewarded him with a shower and a nice millet spray!

I have had a smile plastered on my face all day since!

Awwwww....cockatiels are just too cute when they do that.....that would make me smile too....

Yay! It is so rewarding when you have such a breakthrough!

That's fantastic news! I am so happy for you (and for Bruski, as I am sure he is going to need more scritches now!)

Oh I would LOVE for him to come back for more, but if it was a once off or a rare occurrence - it is all the more special! What a connection we shared at that moment!
