Hi everyone...just thought I'd share a photo of my tiny cockatiel Lucy. She is such a princess and only weighs 69grams. This is a photo of Lucy on a perch with my two other tiels and you can see how cockatiels can vary in size! She's such a sweet angel but I don't know how old she is as she was found in the wild about 4 months ago. How much does Your cockatiel weigh? :)

Seems small, Lisa. Our last lot of babies haven't been weighed recently, but as fledged babies one was as much as 110g.

cockatiels weigh on average 85 to 125g.

my A-vet says it's not the weight that is important, it's maintaining their weight.

I've seen the occasional small (in comparison to the others) tiel at the pet store before. I think just like people, there is a "average" size, and then a few that fall noticeably outside of that range.

theyre all so adorable :D

mine are hefty flying bricks lol

Lol that made me laugh ha ha

dally is 105 grams and tsuka is 126 grams.

tsuka has crash landed into the back of my head once and he is a fast and powerful flyer. it sure felt like getting hit with a brick at the speed he hit me lol

i always forget how big they are until i see other cockatiels.

if Lucy is still young, she could bulk up more. Dally was 75 grams when she was 6 months old. but around a year old she started filling in more and now shes a good weight at 105 grams.

Wow that is big! Rocky is only 81 grams and I thought that was big! LOL. Lucy is full grown. I actually think, if anything, she is a senior citizen. As she was found in the wild I don't know her age but to me she looks older as she has squinty eyes and she is also a lot less active than my other tiels who are all under 12 months :) But tiny or not she IS adorable :) My little princess :)

4 Cockatiels 2 males Chicken Little & Charlie, 2 Females Chiquita and Sweet pea. Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure -Franklin and our now tame, rescued feral Pigeon - Belle.
Wow!! Only 69 grams??? our little green cheek conure is 64 grams...I can't imagine a cockatiel as tiny as him!

I just weighed Chiquita, she's 3 years old and weighed in at 91 grams. I would love to weigh Charlie and Sweetpea...but they aren't tame enough yet. I think they are both a bit larger..each over 100 grams I'm guessing.

Your tiels are beautiful!

Yes, she's absolutely tiny! You can see from the picture next to two regular sized cockatiels how tiny she is. She's not a huge eater too. Just nibbles delicately. I'm very protective of her :) She's the sweetest thing too, very quite and gentle and will waddle up to me on her stumpy legs for head tickles. Just wants to cuddle all day.

Adorable! I am new to Tiels. I just took in my 88 year old father's male Tiel Cricket. His health has been failing and Cricket was not being taken care of as he should be. Cricket is 20 years old and will be 21 in July. He weighs 105 grams. He has some muscle loss from being in a cage too small and not being let out. He is now in a big cage and comes out a couple of hours a day. I cannot keep him out all day like I do my Hahn's, because he tries to fly off his cage or play stand and I am afraid he will get hurt.

I saw your photo of Cricket...he is SO cute!! I keep my tiels' wings semi-clipped just so they can glide around and not fly into windows etc. They are pretty smart and quickly work out the layout of the house and know where the windows are and not to fly etc. I don't clip my budgies or finches as they don't venture far from the cage. The finches will do a lap of the living room and fly straight back in.
