Tiel Toys and Treats?

Hey guys! I posted a thread yesterday about my toy-pineapple-loving cockatiel that hates hands. He loves his pineapple so much that I can place him in one room, hide his pineapple in my pocket, walk a couple rooms away, hold the pineapple up and he will fly right for it. Its really cute. I call it "pineapple-trained" haha. I don't know why hes so attached to it ( he DID hump it like 50000 times in his cage, though.) I just wish I could give him a treat or something for flying to his pineapple since that is a really useful things, especially since we have high ceilings and his wings aren't trimmed. If he gets "stuck" he will scream and he will actually climb on my finger! It is the only time he doesn't try to bite me. I also want to reward him for that, too.

I have offered him millet, banana, raisins, cooked rice, grapes, green beans, he doesn't like any of it! Not when I hand feed it ( which I expected) and not when i just drop it on the desk in front of him or in his food dish :/ Not even a peck. I was wondering if you guys have any nice recipes or ideas?

Same thing goes for his toys. He has a wooden chew toy we bought at the store, a pony bead perch, and a hanging toy made of playing cards and beads, and a swing he LOVED (until I put some strings on the sides for him to play with, now he wont touch the thing..I guess i have to take those off.) When hes in his cage he just sits there on a branch in the corner with his back to every thing :[ The only thing he likes is that friggin pineapple haha. I'm going to try sticking some bells on his toys in there once I get the chance.

He spent his whole life(as far as I know) in a naked boring cage without much interaction and I just want to perk things up for him a bit with toys and treats but he doesn't like anything! I'm not sure what to do!

If he hasn't had toys before it's gonna take a while for him to get used to them. He may not know what to do with them because he's never seen them before. you may have to play with them in front of him and make like it's soooooo much fun that he tries it himself.

Will do! Thanks!

It can also be a trial and error to find what kinds of toys he will like. I have tons and tons of toys Zilla won't even look at, but once I found what she likes she plays all the time!

In the cage for my White Front Amazon (who I didn't see play with toys until Monday night) I have plastic, rope, loofah, wood (soft and hard), cork, metal, treats (wood beads with seeds in them), paper, just about everything I could think of. Monday night I saw him playing with a plastic toy. Last evening he was on the floor of his cage biting the grate (metal). This morning he was playing with another plastic toy. I've had him three weeks. The toy he was playing with this morning is a toy I would normally give to a Budgie (it's that small) but at least he was playing.

My 'tiel likes avicakes and nutriberries as treats. Kalypso isnt much of a toy bird. She will chew on some toys for a moment but thats about it she just moves to which perch is more comfortable at that moment.

My cockatiel has never met a toy she doesn't like, but this one is her absolute favorite. It attaches to the side of the cage and has a natural perch at the bottom of the plate. I have to keep replacing the toys for her. It's from MSBS.

Try some different ones. I'd start with small ones that wouldn't scare him. My 2 yo tiel never had any toys before I got him, and I thought he'd never play with them, but it proved wrong. :) I started him off with stuff like this:
Planet Pleasures Mini Balls & Stars - Pet Bird Toy and Dangling Bird Toy from petco.com
Planet Pleasures Mini Brush at PETCO

The last one he loves to nibble on. Just a few days ago I noticed that he is now the FIRST one to try out a new toy I hanged on the play stand. :) He doesn't play much, but he does play with almost any toy that is hanged (there are tons...) :D I noticed he likes things with "hair". :)
