I have a masked lovebird named Mango, she is not the usual colour. She is a dilute colour so her colours are not very bright.
I also have a young male cockatiel, Coco, who is just over half a year old
Hi! I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with taming my 2 month old, parent raised tiel. There are a few problems we are having at home though..

We have 2 cages, 3 birds and not enough money for a new cage. Also, the single cage is slightly too small for my Tiel so we are having to keep her with another bird. This other bird is fine, until her owner takes her out. To take her out, her owner must put her hand inside the cage near my tiel, and my tiel is not yet hand tame so I was wondering if this would frighten her and she will not become tame? Please help me! :grey: :(

How does she react? Does she frantically try to get away?

Best thing is to haunt the classifieds to find suitable cages for everybody. There's many a bargain to be found secondhand and you need to save your pennies so that you do have enough to get the right accommodation.

More often than not she will hiss at me and back away slowly, without turning her head away from me, nor her back. No, she does not try to get away quickly, but she seems quite cautious, and more likely than not, will nip me (not very hard) when I put my hand too close to get her out.

I have her in a cage by herself now, sitting in our family room (no more than 3 people in the room at a time). She is used to this spot as I have sat her here everyday since getting her (2 days shy of a week).

I have in the back of my head that I am expecting too much too soon, as she is parent raised, however she does not seem frightened with us, just trying to get back into her cage all the time. She scarcely eats from my hand, and doesn't touch her food if there is something new in it.

Any taming tips would be accepted gratefully

Way too soon. It'd be way too soon for a tamed bird. Give it time, and be patient. I'd just leave him to settle in for a few weeks, talking to him, sitting with him, just let him be, before trying to do anything more.

There are also LOTS of other threads on this topic. We've all been there. All I can suggest is relax, be patient and drop any pressure or expectations. You'll have your bird for years and years, there's plenty of time to get to know each other.
