Hiii friends! Been a crazy few weeks for me but wanted to give a update.

I was in Jamaica a few weeks ago and left my bird babies in my mom's care. She is great with them so I wasn't worried. I come home to find Angel (my old man) with brown stuff on his chest. Arty first I thought it was sauce/food since my mom loves to cook for him. Once I took him out I saw it was blood! On him, his peck, cage and wall! I could have bbq'd bowie for this! (Joke! I know he's just a baby that doesn't know any better)

Sooo, took him to the vet and they had to amputate more of his already amputated toe </3 my heart was so broken and heavy! He went through surgery successfully but had a minor scare with the anesthesia cause of his age. But thankfully he's been in the bandage for about 2weeks now and has his 3rd check up tomorrow.

As sad as this is I'm glad he's ok on recovery is going well and he still has his silly personality ♡

Also put a pic of him from last night catching up on AMCs better call Saul!

I am so glad to hear that you came home in time and this has a good ending, and that your precious old man came through everything okay, whew! What a scare. He is so cute. Glad all is well now :). Is he being good and not picking at the bandage?

He's not a good patient at all!!!!! He picks at the bandage all the time! The vet made "pull tabs" so it's ok.
And since he did so bad with the anesthesia I told the vet no gas when it comes to changing the bandage, just man handel him since his heart can't take it, so while that goes on her literally screams bloody murder! That's the worst :(

He's a Lutino cockatiel, so he's all white apart from his cheeks and yellow crest

Oh poor little guy with his bandaged foot. I think that's a very wise decision about the anesthesia. I bet he does want to get rid of the wrap. He's a handsome little fellow. I hope his foot heals quickly. Please keep us updated.

I Def will! What sucks with the no anesthesia/gas is that he screams and fights so hard he comes back so exhausted and with his feathers all ruffled! My vet loves him during check ups but with this she keeps calling Angel dramatic and a baby. ....which I know he is! Loll

I am so glad Angel is doing better! That would have scared me to death. I'm sure he'll heal quickly, he's got a buddy who loves him :)

Wow, I've seen regular lutino cockatiels here and they were an all-over yellow color with orange cheek patches but yours seems white with yellow head. That's what threw me. Maybe it's just the picture. It's really a pretty color.

Good luck with the bandage changes. Hope he won't need too many more. Scary on the anesthesia. My lovebird weathered a serious injury without having to go under anesthesia, for which I'm very thankful. That's always scary, especially with these little guys.

I'm so glad Angel is alright. I remember when my cockatiel's eye was infected, and they had to take the eye out or something and I started crying, it's not something fun or easy to deal with. Again, I'm glad Angel is doing well! :)

Not going to lie, I cried in the car after the surgery drop off! I had a ring neck go into cardiac arrest once so you can only imagine how scared I was!

He does have a bit of a yellow head, does that mean he's not lutino? This is a pic of him the day I took him to the vet. You can see the yellow better, the back of his head is paler

Angel is beautiful! Poor little baby. How scary with the anesthesia. It always scares me when any animal goes under but especially our birds.

Hope he is all healed up very soon. If he keeps touching the bandage, he may do better with an e-collar than being manhandled too much. The stress of being handled that way too much is a lot on his little heart too.

Hopefully today will be the last bandage change before it comes off! Fingers crossed! I'm going to ask today about that e-collar!
