And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
The little grey guy isn't eating from his bowls  When I get home from work in the early morning <2 am ish> I look in at him and see no evidence of him munching.
however, when I take him out,and give him a sprig of millet he goes to town on it! Loves the stuff lol. I expect him to hold it in his lil hand <like amy does> put he wants me to hold onto it for him.
I decided to put some pellets, seed,a piece of millet and a spoonful of his weaning formula on a plate and put that on his roof <also a small bowl of water> and he has been munching away..poor guy is prolly starved :(
But I want him to start to eat from his bowls in his house.
It did take The Cockatoo Man a week or so before he figured he had nummys in his house.

I'll go to the store tomorrow and get him some greens..romain lettuce, celery sticks..an orange or two,and put them on the plate and see what he does.

He likes to be on my shoulder! It doesn't bother me..all my fids /have/had that privy, but he makes every attempt to get there. Even tho he was clipped when I got him,the guy is still strong enough to fly a few feet...from my kitchen table,or the portable perch I have set up.

Still hasn't been too vocal..he has made a couple chirps..I'm trying to teach him the 'wolf whistle" right now. Just curious...do tiels have any talking ability? doesn't really matter to me,Amy has that covered lol.

I'll post a new picture later...time to go to work :(

Dusty has become quite attached to me and will pretty much fly up to my shoulder every time I open his cage, haha. Also if I leave the room he give his loudest call the instant I leave his sight (it's not that loud).

From what I've read, they don't generally start talking until maybe 5-8 months old. We'll see! He has started making a few different sounding calls recently so I can tell he's interested and I'm sure it will develop. Also as you probably are well aware, tiels tend to mostly whistle or sing and may talk some but are not generally great talkers. Males tend to be much more vocal but some females will also sing and talk.

Also from what my vet and the folks at the bird shop have told me, moving is pretty traumatic for them and it's not unusual for them to not eat much for a few days. My little guy went from 97 grams when I picked him up down to now 78 grams but he seems to be doing fine. Flying all over the apartment, alert, playful and super sweet if a bit clingy ;). I took him to the bird shop the other day because I was so concerned about his weight. We checked him out and he's doing just fine. Not too boney and behaving perfectly well according to the guy who has been working with birds for 20++ years. Boy that trip was a great relief for me!

Some cute tiel vids for you!

LOL!! OMG Wade!! Thanks so much for the vids! lol.. I just LOVED the one doing "if your happy and you know it..." at the end he bobs his little head! I almost fell of my chair lmao..
If my little guy <call him Baby Bird until I know what he/she really is> does HALF of that stuff I'll be tickled pink..I mean GREY :grey: :p
Looks like we are going to have a fun time together!
I let Amy out this morning, while Baby Bird was in his house, and Amy walks up to his place < his house sits on the living room floor until I get a table to put it on> She looks up at him and says "Hello Biiirrrrrddd" lol she knows what he is at least <When I brought him home the other day she was watching me take him out of his carry home box he was in> and she asks "whats THAT??"...smarty 'zon that she is lol.

I made an appointment with my avian doc for Friday morning for a wellness check..find out how much he weighs etc..I just might invest in a scale for BB and Amy.

Sounds like the new member of the house is doing a great job of training you! :D

Hope Amy is doing well with all this. Likely so, since she has always been such 'love everyone' type.
