I say this move was premedicated? Check out the last 8 seconds of this video and what Coconut does to Rascal. Unbelievable!

What was Coconut thinking?

They got into 2 fights today... Rascal definitely started the first one though when Coconut was finally trying to be friends! I hope they will like each other more eventually. It's sad they don't :(

How common is it for birds who ate each other to eventually like each other?? Rascal was eating peacefully and then WHAAM! omg.

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I dunno Juliet..it LOOKED like 'nut was just trying to join Rascal..I don't think it was malicious!

As far as ones not liking the other, then being friends..welllll...with my personal experience with Amy and Smokey my TAG..even after 26 years or more,as hard as Amy tried,Smokey wanted NOTHING to do with Amy.
Smokey once snuck up behind Amy,pulled her tail, then turned around and ran off  One other time, the two went beak to beak, and Smokey BIT Amys tongue, requiring 5 stitches! That was the LAST time I let the two get that close.

I agree.. from the video it didn't look malicious. I wouldn't fret yet I think you're doing an amazing job getting them adjusted & socialized with each other. Look how well they are doing in such a short time :) I they will be great partners in crime before you know it.

I hope they will be ;)

The funny thing is I know it looks as though Coconut is the one being a brat... but the real culprit is really Rascal. Rascal always attacks when he is not sure about something... he's always been like this.

If I just place my hand next to him or in front of his face he immediately bites the crap out of me. This is exactly what he does to Coconut.

Coconut quickly started associating Rascal as a "bad guy"... I'm doubtful if Rascal will ever change :(

Guess time will tell...

You might want to let them spend flock time away from their cages/territory, in a different room if possible. This will reduce any territorial disputes and hopefully they will start to get along better, especially if they start to feed close to each other.

Wow! I'm really realizing Rascal is the culprit... it's NOT Coconut.

When Rascal is in a singing "trance"... hope you know what I mean... but when Rascal is singing I can put Rascal so close next to Coconut that they are touching! Coconut then tries to gently preen Rascal and Rascal doesn't care and just continues singing because he's in a singing "trance"... when he's in a trance like this I can lift his wings... pet him under his wings etc and do ANYTHING to him LOL Things I could NEVER do otherwise.

... but when Rascal is NOT in a trance... Rascal will ATTACK Coconut if Coconut starts coming to close to him... unless he is eating or chewing on something. I don't blame Coconut for being a brat to him... the problem is Rascal has never been around other birds since he was 2 months old and he's turning 4 on July 11th... he has also attacks my hand if I just place it next to him and he doesn't know wy my hand is there. Rascal bites when he's uneasy about something.

I'll keep placing them together very close when Rascal is in a singing trance and hopefully that will desensitize him to Coconut being close to him... hopefully :)

Hi think you may like this

Avian Behavior Guide

Thanks... ya I've seen that before... it's crazy how many expressions etc tiels have. Who knew tiels can be "nose pickers" ;)

... but Rascal had better get a grip! I actually got a second tiel because Rascal HATES being alone... by alone I mean when I'm not with him and I thought another bird around would keep him company when I can't be with him. I have fallen in love with Coconut though (I really would have LOVED to have gotten a GCC)... I'm very happy I have Coconut even though they don't like each other.... I LOVE Coconut even though Rascal does not :)
