I feel like I'm starting too many threads :smile004:

OMG baby Coconut can fly. I threw a banana peel into trash can and the thump spooked both of them (my bad) and they both flew across the entire house!

Check out the below before/after pic of how Coconut grew new flight feathers in just 9 days... Coconut can't fly properly yet so thank goodness he doesn't try to fly on his own yet... if he's on the ground he can't fly up... but he can maintain flight for quite a long time before coming down.

Here is before pic:

Here is after pic:

1) You are starting a lot of threads, but this is the place to do it so don't hold back!

2) good job Nut! That has to be a huge relief for you after his early falls. DEFINITELY worth a new thread, lol

It's just INSANE how he went from dropping like a rock. He literally could not even glide safely to the floor (breeder over clipped his wings) and he almost seriously injured himself... he would just drop straight down and land really hard and then scream in pain... and now only about one week later (9 days) he makes super soft landings....and can partially fly :)

I'm trying to not encourage him to fly until he is more stable :D

... but if he flys off the cage (if I leave him he tries to fly after me... so I have to take him everywhere lol)... his landing is so incredibly soft... he actually flys in one spot like a hummingbird a foot above ground before landing.

HUGE difference from before.. I definitely was NOT expecting it to happen this fast!!! :D

I don't know who starts more new threads lately... AmyMyBlueFront or me lol

I took the opposite approach with jet. I encouraged flight. With your padded empty room it should be safer for coconut since there is very little to crash into. Can you put out a few perching places a few feet apart?

LOL... I felt bad posting this update about Coconut since BB hasn't starting sprouting them wings yet ;)

I wonder if Coconut might be a little older? I don't think he is though because the breeder had just finished weaning him when I got him... so I suspect he is not more than 4 months old.

Make sure to post pics when he decides to grow some flight feathers. It'll come in real fast when it does :D

It seems like this is a common problem! The breeder gave my sun a really severe clip, too, and she has a tendency to fall like a rock as well. :( I will be really happy when her flight feathers grow back in. Congrats on Coconut's newfound abilities!

Yes for sure... I am just amazed how he was dropping like a rock and now after just about one week is partially flying LOL

Gotta love Mother Nature.

Perhaps his body knew he HAD to grow some flight feathers ASAP after he nearly killed himself when he fell 3 times like a rock from being over clipped... boy was he screaming in pain.
