That is likely just his pied coloring being enhanced with his first molt.

The pied mutation can be antidimorphic.... meaning it removes visual cues of the bird's gender.

I have a pied, and a cinnamon pearl pied girls. If you didn't know what to look for, you'd think at least one of them was a male!!! Here's pics of that one! ;)

Thanks for reply, Casper still has some barred gray tail feathers and mostly solid white ones. Is this normal or is he just going threw really late changes. He's 2year old and I think he's still gaining more white. Thanks for your help

That's normal for a pied male. Pied males can keep female coloration for at least 6 years, if not their entire lifespan.

Here's what a normal whiteface male should look like. (this guy being split pied, cinnamon and pearl)

BTW, the female a posted a picture of... she knows how to wolf whistle! ;)

Your Cockatiel looks so gorgeous! I am not the best at genetics, so I am really no help there.

Can't you tell if a Cockatiel is split to pearl by ghost pearls along their back?
That's why we suspect Kiko is a Cinnamon mutation split to white face and pearl.

Yes, if you know what ghost pearls look like!

Another way to tell if a male is split vs visual... if a male has oddly shaped spots or mottling at the base of his tail feathers, he's visual pearl. Splits (assuming no pied) will have solid colored tail feathers.

You may have come across this already.....

Pearl - Just Cockatiels!
