Rascal vs the Macaw.....

I took Rascal and Coconut to have their nails filed today with a dremel. This was Coconut's very first pedicure

Check out Rascal chilling out and sizing up the Macaw... he totally thinks he could take that Macaw down haha. :48:

They had a two day old baby Macaw there and it was soooooo TINY!!! Smaller than a budgie... insane how tiny they are when just born... but I will NEVER do this again on a weekend because it was a ZOO!! Tons of people getting their birds nails done today. This is the bird shop I bought Rascal from 4 yrs ago... I trust nobody else to maintain his nails. Lady there does great job.

... and of course Coconut is like "get me the heck out of here!!!"

Yup... they sell birds only

They are a small bird shop.

Check out Rascal's sexy feet. He looks like a foot model haha. She manages to file them super short with the dremel and never hits the quick or makes it bleed. His nails were almost twice as long before he got his usual pedicure today. Wish I had taken a before pic. Here's the after:

I always get scared of getting it done at a store for fear of picking up pathogens. Especially when they do bird after bird all day, and most stores don't use a virucide which IMO they should be. I'd love to learn how to file beaks myself.

Yeah, my bank account isn't thrilled with the fact that there's a bird specialty store about halfway between my house and the children's hospital where I spend half my life.

I'm super annoyed with myself that I didn't video record the just hatched macaw... darn! Super cool though... crazy how tiny macaws are when born and how big and gorgeous they get

The macaw in the video I posted in this thread is always there. He belongs to the bird store owner and then this guy brought in his 9 yr old macaw in a big dog crate and boy was it ticked about having its nails done LOL

LOL I can imagine. I wish this bird shop I went to was closer to where I live. It's not a super close drive... but if it was I would be there every day haha. The other bird shops are much farther away, much larger shop with TONS more birds and not nearly as clean as this one. This place practices strict hygiene. They don't even allow you into bird room unless you have disinfected your hands with their sanitizers.... and they don't allow me in to see their birds for sale unless I leave my bird in their other main room... which is where the store owners and employees birds hang out.... along with this huge black dog that is always there.
