I just moved 3 days ago into a condo. Condo is a HUGE money pit... every inch of it needs to be renovated!!! ... but at least 'Nut & Rascal can enjoy the balcony... I would love to build them an aviary. I just HOPE I won't get complaints because 'Nut sings here and there. I can understand people complaining if they are SCREAMING... but ONLY 'Nut sings... Rascal is a MUTE.

I feel your pain! It's been almost a year for us since we bought our condo and there is finally starting to be a light at the end of the tunnel fix up/decorating wise! It'll be a major hassle, but will feel so good when it's finally done. At least your babies are enjoying it:) I can't imagine anyone being too concerned about them chirping/singing on the patio during the day. How old do teils get? We just set up Kiwi a patio cage. Hoping he won't "sing" to the neighbors when he's out there. I told him nobody wants to hear the songs of his people:16:

Is Kiwi a green cheek conure? I've dreamed of having a GCC one day! :)

This condo is not my dream home and located in a state I am MISERABLE being in... I HOPE to only live in it for 3 maybe 4 years max and then move back to California or Arizona and eventually hopefully back to Europe for good! ... the upside to this is when repairs don't go perfect (I'm very anal and like things done as perfectly as possible) I always tell myself "This ain't my dream home so it's good enough!" haha... one day it will be a rental property or sold.

I just need to get my financial problems resolved first... and at the pace I'm going now I will never make it out! :( Half this entire year is almost already over, scary!

PS: The image you posted doesn't show up =(

Looks like a nice big balcony, room for the cage, and a bar-b-que, and a dishwasher, and a skeet range, and,, and.

We're in the same boat, fix it up and either turn it into a rental or sell it in 4/5 years. Kiwi is a big goofy blue front amazon. He's abnormally quiet for a zon and we've lived with him in apartments for years with no complaints. He makes mostly conversation level vocalizations that are pretty cute and funny (thankfully). He does get the occasional bug up his butt and hollers though. The kind of calls made to carry through dense jungle:27: He gets a time out for making jungle calls and knows it, so he doesn't do it very often. My stupid computer corrected my question of how LOUD cockatiels get to how old they get. Are they a lot louder than wild birds in the area?

They definitely make completely different sounds from wild birds... I don't think they are louder but since my tiels are much closer to me than the wild birds 'Nut certainly does seem louder. When 'Nut and Rascal screams it sure is loud. Wild birds very pleasant to listen to... singing tiels very pleasant to listen to... screaming tiels on the other hand... NIGHTMARE.

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Very nice balcony you have there Juliet!

Unfortunately,I will be moving from this house to another some time this summer
It is nice when you don't need to worry about neighbors complaining lol.
I have lived here most of my life ( except during my married years ) and I have known my 3 or 4 close neighbors for DECADES.

When Smokey (African Grey) was alive, during the summer my front inside door would be open and there is a screen door after leading to the front stoop/sidewalk. At times I could hear Smokey woo'ing and chattering half way down the street! ( only 12 houses on this street) and no one complained ;)

Kiwibird..Amy is also pretty calm/mellow for an Amazon, doesn't hardly make any 'zon noises, but can be VERY loud with words.. " HELLO!!!HOW ARE YOU!!???" My mailman has gotten an earful a few times lol..he thinks its quite cute.

BB also doesn't make any real 'tiel sounds..at least I don't THINK lol..he does chirp, and sing, and talk..and it can be "loud" I guess...not as loud as compared to a 'too or mac by any means.I think its kind of pleasant really lol..doesn't keep me awake when I go to bed. He gets very vocal (about 7:45-8:00am) when I come in the door from work. I call it his "happy time" he may keep it up for 3o minutes or so,calling to me,and showing he is just happy to be alive :) :)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Congratulations, Juliet! Hope the renovations go as easy as possible. You'll make the best of it, just one stop along the way of life!

Thanks.

Renovations are a lot of fun... I love it... the only part of it that is REALLY awful is the cost of it!! :(

Thus far I had to buy a new AC unit, new water heater, I had popcorn removed from ceiling with knockdown applied, interior painting, shelving installed in master bedroom and office, cabinets installed in laundry room (entire condo had NO storage space or shelving at all)... had plumber out numerous times along with electrician fixing problems .... had to buy 4 new appliances (stove, dish washer, washing machine, dryer), had many smaller urgent repairs... this alone was about $15,000 out the window and I haven't even started renovating yet!

All 5 windows must be replaced with hurricane windows (HOA forces me to use hurricane windows when replaced which is expensive!!)... 1988 windows are in SUPER bad condition and literally fall out of the wall when it is windy. Both sliding glass doors are also not hurricane proof which means I have to get hurricane shutters.

... all this would be much funner if I wasn't poor  I just hope I manage to at least break even after all the money this condo is costing :) :(

Wow, that is a lot accomplished so far, just to make it tolerable. Hopefully you'll see enough price appreciation by the time you sell to make it worthwhile.
