scared the C***P outta me!...

...Beebers...He is out of his house visiting with Uncle DJ and he started to be unruly..( Beebs...not Uncle DJ :04 and he started to scream and BITE me..BB does NOT bite ANYONE, unless we thumb wrestle.

he started to run around the kitchen floor,waving his arms frantically while screaming and carrying on and when I tried to pick him up he was yelling and trying to chomp on me, he has NEVER done this ever before.
He finally calmed down and started to whistle and talk again.

After Uncle DJ left, I took Beebers and Amy into the computer room,made him a nice lunch and was about to make a video of him ( I have an idea of a vid for HRH Sir Nigels thread to post ))

I put BB on the desk with his plate and he picked at the scrambled eggs and started screaming again,running in circles,waving his arms madly once more,it scared me to death! he'd stop for a second and start back up,wouldn't allow me to pick him up,tried biting again,kind of flew off the desk to the floor with more screaming and arm waving. I honestly thought he was having a heart attack.
I saw two of his arm sleeves were not in there proper position. I managed to pick him up and extend his arm and gently stroke/work them back into position.
He has since calmed down and is little boy'ing it and whistling,and he took a couple more nibs at lunch.
I was ready to put him in his mobil home and rush him to his doctor.
Keeping a very close eye on him.

I'm assuming the two sleeves were causing him extreme discomfort/pain and I was able to get them back in place...sheeshhhhh!!

Another wacky Wednesday! Glad things calmed down.

Ah Jim hope all is OK with little Beebs.

Thinking what can be behind this? Is he due a moult? Feathers working lose and BB not used to it, strange sensation?

Had he knocked himself flying previously? Thought maybe his Uncle DJ had offended him with an odd colour shirt or something?

Keep an eye on the little fella!

K...he has gone thru a couple moults already. It seems that his sleeves tend to get screw-gee at times. Maybe he is just starting another moult? I have not found any fluff or feathers around as of yet.

Even though BB is fully flighted,he really doesn't fly has never done any type of lengthy flight,he prefers to walk/run like his big sister

He ran right up DJ's arm to wolf whistle in his ear...so I don't think it was the shirt.
Right now he is sitting on my fingers,as I try to type (VERY annoying and he is stubborn and keeps coming back even after I shoo him off).

Something had him out of sorts. As you said keep an eye on him, another outburst and maybe time to call the av?

Well it was a kinda big hint Jim!

I've noticed birds occasionally get a feather out of place and it REALLY upsets/hurts them. BB is so little I am not sure if this method will work for him, but with bigger birds hold their toes and give a brisk downward tug through the air. They will instinctively flap their wings a couple times at the sensation of falling and usually this helps set the offending feather back in place. Hope the little guy is feeling better now

Thanks April..yes I do the toe thing with Amy,just so she can get some exercise on her arms.
BB seems fine now. He is talking and whistling and currently munching on some velveeta mac and cheese.

I'll try tomorrow Lea...letting him recover tonight. I tried earlier but as soon as he saw the camera...well i'm sure you know what happened..

When I see an out of place feather I do a similar thing like Kiwibird, but instead I throw my birds up in the air and make them fly, and flying usually puts the feathers back into place. For some reason, my birds do not flap their wings when I move my arm, a lot of people do this to exercise clipped birds but I guess mine have good balance. Like Kiwibird said, I think this method only works with larger and/or clipped birds.

Amy usually gets clipped,but seeing how it is now getting cooler here,she is getting her long sleeves back on her arms...but she doesn't know how to fly anyway ( I made the mistake of not letting her fledge when she came home with me almost 30 yrs ago)

We all make mistakes, and now you know how important it is for birds to fledge. While Amy might not know how to fly, you can recall train Beebs to encourage him to fly more. Start by teaching him to walk to your hand, then hop, then a short flight, and eventually you can have him fly across the room, up and down stairs, and fly in circles around the house.

LOL that's all I need! He is fully flighted and does know how to fly,but for some odd reason,he likes walking..it's actually pretty funny watching him walk/run across the living room carpet while calling for me.

Kiwi's mother has a great possibility and is truly worth looking at closely. The sad part is that it can be very difficult to find that odd feather because the crazy activity causes the thing to slip back into position.

Also remember that it is possible for these guys to get crazy excited and just loss it mentally.

On a more serious side, this could also be related to a condition not that uncommon in smaller Parrots and some larger Parrots when the Chems become out of balance.

If he has another of these 'events' in the next few months, I would recommend a call to your CAV and tell them what /how Beebs had acted. The Length of time and whether he was himself afterwards or very quiet for a period of time.

Thank you for your input my friend! He is in bed now,but the rest of his night was uneventful.
I made his favorite dish for his bedtime snack..some Velveeta mac and cheese ( the best in my book) and gave him six shells..he ate FIVE of them...nothing left...no crumbs...nothing! Quite unusual for Mr Picky.
I honestly believe two of his sleeves were out of place and hurting him.
Watchful eyes will be on him for the next few days.
It brought tears to my eyes,hearing him screaming and running frantically,not knowing what to do..the poor boy.

it does sound to me like his sleeves were off and causing some discomfort. Let's be fair one of the small humans can scream terror if something feels "off" so it's probably not too different for the beebers, maybe a little too much excitement along with a mild discomfort brought on birdy meltdown
