Thought I'd share. I came across a photo of Jazz the first day I got her and was amazed at how much her colors have changed. It's funny, I see her everyday and I can hardly remember when she had her baby clothes on. I never notice a difference as she slowly changes. Although, the white behind her cheeks and above her eyes is new and it's getting thicker. I wonder how much more she will change? January marks our one year together and she's not much older than that. Can I get some opinions on sex? She's always been my girl but I don't mind if she ends up being my boy if that's the case.

In that second pic she's giving me that look "what are you doing human?"

She's a cutie!

she not only appears to have gone through her feather changes but she looks for more angered with the world (Which I don't blame her for)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Nice contrast, I didn't realize cockatiels can change coloring. Then again, I don't know enough about cockatiels!

yea they all pretty much come out dressed like a female in normal grey form and the males grow into their colors at around a year I think. So with such a change I am wondering if she is actually a he? girls aren't suppose to change in color if I am correct. Also the yellow isn't on her whole head like most males unless she just hasn't grown into them completely. This is my first tiel so I only have the one experience. I'm not sure if this rule applies to the different color variations other than greys...

Also, I notice she likes to click her beak on my skin and on the wood she has on her perch. and she holds her wings out a lot when around the other birds, forming a heart shape and walks around slowly clicking her beak on everything. I think maybe these are male behaviors?!

Naw not angry that's just cockatiel for "i'm not interested....but what are you holding in your hand, my crown is up but I dunno what you're doing." All birds change colors, clark has also around the eyes a bit, it's normal and fine.

As far as sex, I'd have to guess male, but I'm wrong 50% of the time. The old wives tale is the darker the red spot the more male, and the flatter the head vs, rounder head the more male. But I have not seen anything scientifically proven on this, so it's more akin to phrenology and might predict if he will be more of a murderer or not.

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I'm no expert by any means with cockatiels,Beeber's being the only one who has owned me. But BB looked just like your Jazz's first photo when he came home to live with Amy and I..he was just 4.5 months old at the time.

If I had to guess,Jazz is a dude :) by looking at the second picture.

Amy is really AMOS in disguise  but will always be called Amy...and I've given up on trying to refer to "her" as a "him" lol...28 years it's a hard habit to break.

Crap..I'm having a hard time getting my fairly new computer to recognize my canon camera  as I have tons of pics on it.. So Jazz isn't quite a year old yet?
Can't remember how long it took Beebs to loose all his baby clothes but it was quite awhile. I'm looking at his little face now,and he does seems to have a lot more yellow than your Jazz, but then again,he is a bit older.

haha yea I think I'll have a hard time going from her to him after a year but I cannot imagine having to change after 28 years! I pray jazz lives that long but that's on the very very high end of their life expectancy

Why is that cockatiel blocking the beautiful conure???? Sorry I'm biased. No I grew up with cockatiels, the video really didn't really help me deduce anything... I'd have to move in with you for a few weeks to analyze his/her behavior, but I'm way to busy at the moment, sorry. Might be easier to believe the old wives tale I mentioned above, or have an avn do a DNA sexing.

well, I don't have a hatch date from the store but she was a baby when I got her. So Maybe if she was about 4 months old when I got her I think maybe she's right at a year old give or take a month or two....

With your new computer, I have had good luck switching from one USB port to another when trying to force the computer to install the driver or whatever for storage device on windows if that is what you are using. Or doing a restart

haha I think my gf would be opposed to a new roommate :p

Here's a picture of my other two conure type feathered babies for you. I don't want them to get jealous jazz is getting all the attention on this forum. Unfortunately boomer the lovebird flew out an open door a few weeks ago and I haven't seen her since :( I should have known better.

your black cap looks mildly displeased with the friend squishing them! :D

that sucks!, still we've all made mistakes at some point and need to get a harsh lesson. For you it was an open door, for me it was checking cooking supplies!

ah damn that sucks about boomer, sometimes they make their way back or are found. Especially if he is people friendly. Sometimes clipping is better, sometimes not, I have no further opinion on the subject. Do what you feel is right with your flock.

yea. I put her cage with treats outside for a few days until we got a bad storm and it got knocked off it's table and it's all smashed up now. I'm certain she's perished in the cold fall nights here in Wyoming. The day she flew out I ran after her and got to about a quarter mile away and I heard her distinct chirp. It was the last I ever heard or seen of her :( I do miss her dearly. it was a harsh lesson for me and a death sentence for my beautiful lovebird. I think she got the raw end of the deal.

haha my black capped (perry) has that look on him all the time. I think it's cute. He's a sweetie and they have bonded really well. I'm glad I got him a cagemate as I'm sure he gets lonely in that big cage when I'm gone. jazz usually comes to work with me. I don't prefer to play favorites but jazz is my ESA so she gets more time with me since my employer only allows my ESA at work. They all get lots of playtime when I am home.

yea she was the only one that wasn't clipped. She was an expert flyer, very nimble. She was only friendly to me but she would often land on someones shoulder if she was flying around then nip at them. She was a very nasty bird to humans when I got her. after settling in she stopped nipping only at me. I don't see her ever going to a stranger. I don't think I'll ever see her again but I do look out at the wild birds and hope she made it into another flock and is happily enjoying her freedom.
