So, I decided to clean my cockatiel's cage before bed rather than wait til morning. Good idea. Turns out Iggy at some point within the last couple days laid an egg.

What in the world do I do with it? And what do I do so that this doesn't become chronic?

Time to nip that in the bud! When I was a kid I had a cockatiel lay herself to death essentially so I take this matter very seriously and I'm glad you are reaching out for help. Here is an article I wrote on managing your bird's hormones so that you can stop this behavior before it becomes dangerous.

excellent advice from Sage there. There is one thing I will add that I have seen before and that is to leave any further eggs you see. A lot of birds will replace a missing or broken egg. Just let her do her thing with her eggs and when she's bored of them you can chuck them
