Chick and Noodles

Please help Noodles.

Chick and noodles have been mated for 5 years. Both from two separate mated pairs we have. We raised them since hatching. They grew up together and became mates and then parents.

All of our tiels are so important to us like kids I would say.

Today chick was exercising and she hit a wall and passed away. When my hubby took millet to them he found her.. It was horrible.

Noodles is searching and searching...and we dont know how to help him. We know he must be sad as we are.

Is there any advice to be able to help our poor teil..

We have other teils with him and they are sitting with him...I am sure this should be helping him..but is there more we can do for him?

If my crying heart is any consolation, you have it.
Did he see her body? I have heard some say that this can help a mate realize what has happened and move on.
In the future... maybe some wall/window-training... teaches them about walls and barriers. I got this tip many moons ago, and I am sure it has helped.

Oh my!!!! :02: My deepest condolences to ALL of you!!!..I have no real answer for you.
When Smokey (TAG) passed away a few years ago,besides me,Amy was heart broken! I had had Smokey for about 1.5 years before Amy came home with me,and Amy was only four months old at the time.
So,when Smokerzz passed on,it was 25 years or so that Amy knew her.
Even though Amy did her best,to be best buddies with Smokey,Smokey wanted no part of it.
When Amy finally realized that Smokey wasn't coming back home,like ME,she got VERY depressed! :02:
She sat,all day,on her nite-nite perch,high up in a corner in her mansion.
She only moved from that perch to snack on something or get a drink.
I'd open her front door to come out,and she wouldn't,and she stopped totally from being vocal,and then I began to worry about her well-being.

It took WEEKS before she ventured out of her house! When she finally did,I SHOWERED her with love and attention! I made dang sure she was with me all day! I took her for rides in the car ( Smokey passed away in late april,so it wasn't freezing out) Amy just LOVES going for rides!
We went to her favorite pet store to see her buddies,the green armed bee-bee's..we went to dunkin donuts where the girls would give her a plain munchkin donut..went to Wal-Mart..post office..EVERYWHERE.

With Amy being with ME...she helped ME to grieve about Smokey.
I talked with her,gave her loveys (she actually became more lovey with me too! she would beak my cheek ever so gentle while sitting on my shoulder,and preen my beard or eye brows and mumble soft,sweet Amazon sounds in my ear)

I guess all I'm trying to say is this...if your little 'teil allows you to handle him,do so,and give kisses on the face,and talk softly and gently. Pay MORE attention then you normally do! They have hearts and souls too ya know! And can feel things like this!

My little BB flies around my rooms now,and when he gets spooked,sometimes he just TAKES OFF and has no clue where he is going and what he is doing! He has "thumped" into more than one thing in two years! I am seriously considering now that he DOES know how to fly,that his next time to his doc for a wellness check,he is going to get a "birdicure" and get the sleeves on his arms shortened ( wings clipped if you couldn't figure that out lol). I want him around for many more years....too bad if I P.H.O and he cant go flapflapflap!

I'm so sorry for your pain. It's awful.

My sister always has cats, and she always brings any bodies home from the vet to let the others see. She says they smell the body, and pat it, and then seem to understand. Before she learned to do that, the cats would search for days for the lost. I think birds understand these things, and it is probably easier for them to process than to think the beloved is lost and they need to help them get home.

Oh sad news! Our condolences for you and Noodles. Take the advice and let Noodles see poor Chik's body, to help him understand that she's passed away. Animals do understand that death occurs as a part of life. Noodles will be better if he can have closure.
