Baby is my BFF too of many years. When he bites, it's gentle and communicates well. He's only a little loud when he contact calls or lets out a few screams. When he's molting and bumps a feather he sounds like a conure, which is rare.

It is good to have gathered some tiel parronts, I wondered where they were. LOL.

Being a birdie person all my life (if you include the wild guys as a kid) I'm surprised at myself for not having a teil much sooner
Not until I joined this wonderful community, reading about, and seeing awesome pictures of these marvelous little creatures.

Almost two years have passed since Beebs picked me to go home with, and there is never a dull moment in this house lol.
86g's of fluff and bone and song and talk, never fails to put a huge :D on my face, every single day.:grey:

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
"Beginner bird" AKA bird set to "easy mode"

Back at one of the pet shops I worked at we would take birds in either on consignmentk"previously loved birds") or would take them in to rehome them. Particular species, unless there was good reason for individuals not to, would be taken to the local senior center(more like a rec center for old folks than a nursing home. No residents) and adopted out to the seniors for free (with food and instructions, etc). Tiels and budgies were always huge hits. Great little companions that even seniors and kids can look after. But that doesn't mean there is nothing to appreciate in them for experienced keepers. I will always love my "beginner" critters, no matter how "experienced with birds" I get. :)

Oop, This isn't meant to be a comment on Jim's lack of tiel till recently. Just an awkwardly placed and phrased "begginner birds? Oh, you mean awesome birds" speech.... in written words.... know what? I need coffee before I do more on this site. Lol

Terry..when BB is on my shoulder and he presses his beaky to my cheek and sings in my ear  when I turn my head to face him as he does this..because we are so close,he looks a little distorted in my vision..all I see is his beaky and his noses and little eyes and dang if he isn't soooo freakin' cute!!

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
I've known 3 tiels throughout my life, Cocky was a good friend unfortunately I was like 10 when I got him so remember very little. I know we just didn't have the knowledge of how to tame a bird back then, but he was a friendly bird, didn't really like touching but loved from a distance. Then we got Flo as a female companion to him. She was a nightmare, screaming constantly and pestering Cocky. I now know she was saying "Nobody is leaving this room until something gets ******!" Unfortunately my older siblings when my mum asked them to clean the cage accidentally let them out (I was only told this last year, was told that the pair had a heart attack) Then last year I spent a bit of time with one Kevin who was a clipped Tiel who clearly had a lot of issues to work out. He was clipped so much he would splat on the floor and he refused to believe he was unable to fly, in a home with the upstairs being a balcony that was only going to lead to disaster, he also hated me with a passion instead of pecking or biting he would jam the top half of his beak into my skin and flick his head to the side giving me a lot of cuts which some have scarred now (never let people say a Tiel can't hurt you!) so unfortunately what with my mental state at the time it felt unfair to keep him as I was fast growing to disdain him so I decided it would be better for him to go to a different home that could give him what he needed

Me!!! I have the sweetest tiel in the whole wide world. Ducky never, ever bites and asks for skritches all the time :)
I adore tiels. If only more people would stop referring to them as “beginner birds” or birds for kids they’d get so much more respect.
