What's my cockatiels gender and age?

Please help?
I can't tame him.
I got him 6 months ago.

Sorry, if I may ask a few questions it might help others give you a better answer.

1. Are you bonded to some extent or not at all?
2. Following the previous question, if by chance you have tried to bond what tactics have you tried?
2. From looking at the photos would assume he/she is fairly tame?
3. Was he/she brought from a generic pet store, specialist bird shop or breeder?
4. What is the birds environment like?

My personal thoughts:

1. AGE: I would guess that if you purchased the cockateil from a breeder or pet store. he/she would currently be roughly 9-10 months old. Others will correct me if i am wrong. (Of course this does not take into consideration that you did not buy a baby cockateil)

2. GENDER: In regards to gender of cockateils i cannot pressume to guess. So maybe someone else will be able give a better answer.

Most lutinos are female but I believe yours is male, as for age I'd say about 10 months if bought from pet store or breeder.

Also, how does he/she behave? Males make lots of noise, they strut, and do heartwings. Although, I think they start that at a curtain age.

how do you mean you can't tame him? He's sat on your hand right there in those pictures. As for age how old were you told he was when you got him? He looks like he may be about a year old.

Gender I'm far from an expert, ther easiest way to find out is to do a quick DNA test

Not sure about lutinos, perhaps a DNA test and also behavior can be good indicators. Looks a little tame to me to post for pictures re: stepping up and posing!

Annnnnnnnd... he's already better behaved than my Patagonian... he perches nicely, allows the camera to get close, and smiles for it!

The photos taken in a different room. Tiel came to my hand because he or she recognized me. The pet shop said me he's baby. In Turkey vets can't do DNA test. Sorry for my bad english

I have a few questions to ask:
1) is she/he loud or quiet? Females tend to be quiet, when they do they tend to screech, whilst the males sing, chirp and whistle etc
2) How does he/she act in front of a mirror? Males will be entertained by it, females don't really bother with it.
3) has he/she molted at all since you have had her/him? If they have molted their feathers it means they are out of juvenile stage (6-12 months old)
4) does she/he seem territorial? holds her/his chest out? wings back? Males do this.
5) does he/she hiss a lot? Females tend to do this as the males are more adventurous and lovable.

I believe that is a male cockatiel, male cockatiels tend to have yellow strands of feathers going through their orange cheeks (the circle on the face lol)
whilst females have grey feathers going through. All female and juveniles, have a striped pattern referred to as barring. They may be difficult to see on Lutino cockatiels - but they are there. Barring is easiest to see with the bird facing you, with bright light behind.

I would say though that he look about a year old.

Though, you are doing a good job, he/she is sitting on your hand, it shows it is starting to trust you, just got to keep up the hard work, more work you put into it, the more they will be tame.

Do you have a black light by any chance? Or could you possibly get one? Looks purple when you turn it on?

Is this a fool proof method to determine gender? If so I have to test it out with Kaka, my cockatiel.
