B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
I sniff my bird. What is is about the 'tiel smell that is just so.... I don't even know. But it's great. I sniff him at least once per holding him. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Please tell me I'm not the only weirdo to do this. Of course, I am probably the only weirdo to tell him he smells like a bird after doing so.... like every single time.

:yellow1: My bird probably thinks I'm a lunatic. I also declare he is falling apartttt! Every time I find a molted feather....

Nike a Hawk Head Parrot (Deroptyus accipitrinus)
Every morning walking Nike from her cage to her playstand I give her multiple kisses (and sometimes a raspberry) on her back between her shoulders as I sniff her.

While it didn't start out that way, sniffing is good way to smell if things are normal. I also sniff my dogs head and can notice if there is ever something going on with his ears.

I eat my bird. lol

And by eat, I mean I gently sneak up to her (from the front so she can see my hands), gently place my hands around her and make chomping sounds into her neck, and screech "deeeeelicious!"

She... seems to like it? lol
(While I do this I also smooch her and get the chance to smell her. When she's been chewing on native nuts she smells like an air freshener!)

I give little Yoda kisses and nose-nuzzles and as a bonus while I am doing it, I like to sniff him. I love the way he smells. :D To me he kinda smells like cedar or bread. My husband says he smells like popcorn, or if he has been sleeping in my hair he smells like me!

Not a tiel but I sniff Bumble. She usually smells kinda earthy/seedy. But today she smells dusty, even though she bathed night before last.

Like Jim sez, amazon owners sniff their parrots all the time. I do, especially when Salty is in a good mood.... he emanates a Christmas cookie like smell, delightful.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I sniff, you sniff, we all sniff!

Most birds smell wonderful, especially amazons. My Gonzo smells like flowers, while the Goffins are more like sweet talcum powder.

Yep you're the only one... nope, no one else would dream of sniffing their parrot.....

Well except maybe if they just chewed on anise ... or cinnamon... or needed a cuddle...

All right, all right, stop the interrogation, I can't take it anymore...

Hello my name is Jennifer and yes I love the smell of my parrots...

I kinda feel wierd now i havent sniffed Xander. Ill sniff him now.

He doesnt smell like anything really but im glad im in the wierd club now, yay :)

I do kiss him though and i really like the smell of women hair when its been washed, not that i go around sniffing random womens hair but thinking about it i could use Xander to distract them with his good looks and charm while i grab a sniff. I think its gonna be a fun weekend for me and Xand's :)

I love that 'tiel smell!

For me, it activates great old memories of clothes drying outdoors, the way my granny did it. Sunny, a little dusty, cotton-y!

The Rickeybird smells like chocolate bar wrappers... not the chocolate, but the foil wrapper. You have to get up under his wings with your nose to get the effect.

We're so weird here. I love it!

Well I couldn't identify Rio's smell, when dry it was very subtle but after shower time whew lad you didn't need to sniff him, he was a portable air freshener! Only description I could give is like shoving your entire face into a fruit salad! (guess the "salad" as I sometimes referred to him lived up to his name!)

Good point! I loved the way my cat smelled. Almost like perfume. And my Chihuahua smells warm and doglike.

it's funny the smells they pick up. I had one cat who smelt like smoke (Both parents were heavy smokers, thankfully stopped now) but 2 of the others smelt very nice, one normally of grass and the other of different flowers (whatever they rubbed against that day) the last cat smelt of urine normally, he had a habit of urinating on himself. The dogs all smelt very nice, the old cairn terrier (19 at ToD) had a musty smell to him, the golden retriever often smelt like his shampoo and now the German Shepherd smells often like cotton *shrugs* the westie cross is the poo roller so he does not get a sniff from me
