Ok so here I am, my house isn't a mansion, but it is a gala type house (Like a train bogey divided into 4 rooms) My birds need exposure to sun, and the only way is to take them with the cage and place them in sunlight (since they are not tamed yet, and i don't think they will be soon)

Now when they see light they start pacing here and there in the cage and screaming over the top of their lungs, and will hiss if I try to provide them treat, then I have to take them back after a while inside and they will become silent, this is the ONLY activity they do besides eating :02:, I placed toys but they won't even touch them, it's been weeks and I've tried different toys but none works, they are too scared, all they do all day long is perch and keep quiet unless I take them out in sunlight.

Is it okay to move the cage around and place it here and there, it's their house. ?
I wanna make them active, not depressed.
Also the pair doesn't get along well, they keep hissing at each other sometimes and regularly during nights for their favorite perch spot.

Also I have got a few good photos of them so stay tuned to meet Jack and Angel in my next post!

Move their cage to different locations to allow them additional time in the Sunlight is normally not an issue with tiel's.

Getting two tiel's at one time will slow their acceptance of you. Watch closely for signs of fighting between the two and be prepared to separate them if they begin to mutilate one another.

If they hiss at you or scatter when you attempt to give them treats then you shouldn't be attempting to give them treats.

If your aim is to hand feed them, I will assume therefore your primary aim is to tame them. In this case, as they are of a smaller species of bird, they are more likely to be frightened.

Firstly, they are not taking treats from you because they believe your hand is a threat.

Secondly, you need to discover if they are only frightened of your hand, or if it is just your presence. Do they scatter and hiss when you walk near/close to there cage, or lean in and talk to them?

If they are scared of your presence place them right next to somewhere you spend the majority of your time. Then (or if they are not scared of your presence only hands), place your hand near the cage every day until they do not react. Then place your hand ON the cage every day. Then IN the cage on the bottom. Then IN the cage on their perch. Repeat time after time until they no longer react to your hand in or on the cage.

Then and only then will you see progress. Then you may attempt step ups, hand feeding seed/treats. Toys should be slowly introduced into their cage, as they can scare them and be in a constant stay of fright.

Cockatiels are a small breed. Budgies are smaller, but are very similar. Both are extremely easily frightened and both can be extremely hard to tame because of this. They take a lot of time and commitment. You will have to be patient and slow things down.

Get them used to your entire presence > your hand on cage > hand in cage > holding them leads to feeding them as seed on your hand bribes them into stepping onto your hand. Once you can hold them, remove from cage, spend large amounts of time per day interacting with them. Then you will see some progress :) Goodluck

If they are freaking at you while in the sun, it may be the richer UV lighting up your clothes like a banshee!

Just general hissing, they both know they have to be together, and yes it's been a month and yet I have only been able to hand feed them, it's slow work, but I think I maybe able to tame my female teil faster than the male (very timid)

They love treats from my hands, the only time my female hisses (male always runs away here and there) at me is when they are in sunlight or lose to the door where they can see the sky, they kinda become distressed I guess, maybe they aren't hand bred as the shop owner said, maybe they used to be in the wild which is why they go nuts when they see the sky and become all angry and try to fly within the cage and keep screaming, that's the only thing they do which I look as exercise :( or else they will just perch and take naps or sit quietly all day. I am always near them and talk and whistle to them, but I don't know any signs that may look like it is time to touch my tiel, any tips on that ?? Many online forums say that you gotta gt bitten in order to tame them, if this is a universal fact, then I'll gather my courage and get my finger ready haha

Have you tried the female on your finger yet?
Or have you had your hand in the cage for minutes at a time, either doing nothing or just moving there food and water about etc to show that your hands are not a threat to them?
