Two cockatiels: Sharlett (Cinnamon Pied) and Data (White-Faced Pied)
Sorry I have been gone for a few weeks, I have been super busy! I am about to start an internship in the fall and afterwards, I'll have my Master's! I have also been volunteering at an AAT place since I need to do so in order to get my AAT certification! The birds are doing fine but do not like me being so busy. It should calm down soon, I hope.

I am doing a project for my CBT course that involves my birds and making sure they get more out of cage time. This got me to thinking about play gyms. But there is just one problem! I do not own a play gym for them as the one we started with which was this one: https://www.petsmart.com/bird/toys-perches-and-decor/toys/all-living-things-portable-bird-playground-14021.html?cgid=400123
They HATED it! They were so scared of it, probably because of the large bird faces on it?

I want to purchase one so they can have more out of cage time without me having to change my clothes every time I put them back because I have been covered in bird poop! I was hoping to put some toys that are duplicates of their favorite ones that they have in their cages so they will feel more comfortable. I do not want one too big or too small but about medium size so they will not be as afraid. Would you guys recommend wood or stainless steel or plastic? I thought wood might be a good choice but I do not know.

Currently, when I get them out they hang out on me. I want to keep them out for as long as possible but the poop is getting in the way as well as the fact that I cannot hang toys on me, lol! I also cannot always multitask when they are out because they will chew on my homework, other devices and sometimes they will bicker with each other.

Do you guys have any play gyms you could recommend for my two tiny terrors?

How long did you give your fids to get used to it? I built a playgym for Bumble, and it took her WEEKS (maybe even a few months?) and lots of millet to decide to go anywhere near it. Then she would sit on it but only one spot. Now in the last couple of months she’s really started climbing around and playing with the toys attached to it. So maybe your guys just need some more time.

Hi, take a look at this, for the price and a few simple fixes, it is great!

I just looked at what gave you trouble, there are dozens of variations of that stand! Search amazon!
The wife’s Bongo loves his, but for two birds? A bit small!

We have this one and my sun conure Loves it. He uses it as his spot to eat breakfast daily and for water and snack breaks throughout the day and sometimes plays there too. I would recommend vet wrapping the top bar as it can be slippery and hard for little feets to manage. We put tons of toys and activities and it's turned out to be wonderful!

Not too long as they kept flying away when we put them within two feet of it. I know it can take time but I worried that they'd bump into something when they flew.

It does seem a bit small but I could modify it. Looks like something my grandpa had for his Amazon! Hopefully I could add some of their favorite toys to it and that might make it easier.
