I've been waiting to post this until I was sure that it was going to stick, but I think I can now safely announce that my little 2 and a half year-old girl can fly again!!!

Some of you might remember when Duff was only a few months old she broke a huge blood-feather in her left-wing, and I couldn't get it to stop bleeding, and after she bled for close to 10 minutes I had to pull it using a pair of needle-nose pliers...It saved her life, but it permanently damaged the follicles to a few of her longest fligh-feather on that wing, and my CAV said she would never fly again because the feathers would never grow back-in...Well, about a6 or 7 months ago the feathers started to grow back-in, but they kept growing-in all wonky, and had to keep being pulled back out because they would keep bleeding whenever she bumped them even a little bit, so I just kept pulling them out because I'd rather she was alive and not able to fly than dead...

Well last month I guess Duff decided that it was time for this crap to end, because she started picking at them when they started growing back-in, and for the first time they looked like they were growing-in normally to me...So I let them go, and last week she suddenly flew across the room at me, and I mean AT ME!! No control at all, but she flew...Each day since then she's been flying all willy-nilly all over the house, scaring the hell out of everyone...But yesterday she decided she'd fly from the gym over across the bedroom right to me and she landed right on my hand!!! And ever since she's not stopped flying all over the house, and with total control!!! She won't stop, she's wearing herself out now, but she just looks so happy, I swear she's smiling at me constantly! She can fly to wherever she wants to now, lands perfectly, and her flight-feathers on her left wing are just about the same length now as the ones on the right wing!!!

I hope this continues, because she's having a ball, and I just don't have the heart to make her take a break...Ironically she's also gone from being pretty much a complete Mute to singing and chirping her little heart out...Bowie was sitting on my shoulder just now and Duff flew across the room and knocked him right off of my shoulder, lol..Bowie looked at her like "Okay, we get it, you can fly now..Geez, get over it..."

She can make it all the way to the top of the play-gym now!!! She's been showing-off all day long...Notice both Bowie and Kane in the background going "I don't know what the big deal is."

Just because Lita hadn't made the post yet...She couldn't care less about Duff flying either, and she's made a perch out of my reading light...

While we're on the subject, take a look at Duff in the first photo of her (she really IS smiling, lol)...How many people think her toes are freakishly long for a Cockatiel? I swear she could swing from tree to tree with those things...They're all that long, she looks like a Spider-Monkey!

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
WTG Duff!!! Her tootsies look a bit bigger than Beebers are Ellen

I had to shorten BB's sleeves when he was getting his meds just so he wouldn't fly away when he saw the syringe coming like he did the first time around. His doc did a very good job trimming just the three outer-most primaries on both of his arms. He can make it from the coffee table to me on the couch if he flaps hard enough ( which he does of course!) For the time being he has to walk to me lol ( Its so funny watching those little legs of his going a mile a minute!)
When he does get his pilot license back,he'll be zooming all over the house again. My brother is amazed on how fast and hard 'tiels can fly and BB is very good at it!
