Molting? Or something else..?

Last night, while giving Cookie some head scratches, I noticed a lot of pin feathers.

A few days earlier he had bumped into the ceiling fan (it was off). He usually doesn't but he was panicking then. He lost a lot of feathers then but since he was perfectly fine after that I didn't worry too much.

And then last night he was sitting on my head and he fluffed up. When he did he also lost a feather. He hasn't lost any flight or tail feathers yet. He's going to be 5 months old on the 21st this month.

Could he be molting? He is still eating and drinking fine. He's not lethargic either.

Hello Naz, I don’t think Cookie is plucking. My Fang has a lot of pin feathers now too and I’m vacuuming up moulted feathers from the floor by the dozen. If Cookie develops any bald spots you’d have reason for concern but it sounds like a moult to me.

Thanks for the reply:)

I didn't think he was plucking either. Most of the pin feathers are on his face and neck...places he cannot reach.
