So, I’ve had Pearl for 3 days now.
She’s happy, eating and drinking... even starting to trust me and go on my hand etc.
(She was hand fed so she’s only used to the one human mum, so just getting her to trust me)

Problem is... I’ve noticed this on her eye today... not sure if she’s had it from day one because I never paid that much attention to it... also because I’ve only just managed to get her close to my face to have a look too.

She’s 10 weeks old.
I have my curtains shut when I get her out as I don’t want her flying into the window... so could this just be where maybe she’s hit something to hard? As she has hit the wall where she got spooked. is this a serious problem?
Thanks [emoji120]

I'm not seeing much on her eye maybe I'm missing it? They do sometimes get bruises when they crash into walls and stuff.

I'm more curious about the cage she's in, what kind of material is that? The wire spacing looks very large, like she can fit right through it if she wanted. What sort of cage is she in?

It's always good to bring a new bird to a certified avian vet for a wellness check, blood test can be done also to make sure they are healthy on the inside! Highly recommend you take her for a wellness check anyways just to be sure.

She’s in a handmade aviary that I made, she can’t get through the wire, it’s just because I was so close up to it.
I’ve got budgies and a cockatiel that have lived in it for 3 months now and had no problems, Pearl is just a new addition and was worried about her eye as I have never seen that on a birds eye. It did make me wonder if it was some sort of bruising from hitting the wall [emoji4]

Would you like to find some veterinary advice? :)

Certified Avian Vets

If none are near you...

In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.

She is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO precious! Hard to beat a female cockatiel for adorable faces!

I love her already, just need to get her to trust me [emoji3059]
But I’m pretty happy with how she is already with sitting on my shoulder or my finger [emoji3059]

Looking at the first picture I would say that there is some inflammation of the muscles behind the eye but as it's just a picture it is very hard to say. Also I am not a Vet so I can't say for certain about anything.

Personally I would get the bird to a vet. Better to throw away the consultation money on a healthy bird than to risk losing a sick bird. Especially if you are uncertain. Usually birds hide everything until its too late to save them.
