So, my dad has an aviary we didn’t realise but we have two females and a Male cockatiel.

They laid eggs and we had three hatch so far. One - 4 days old, second - 2 days old and one last night.

Problem is, the 2 day old one died last night.

The other problem... both the females are in the nest box. We’re not sure if both the females had laid as before they both laid in the nest before we had a Male.

Would it be the two day old one died because of suffocation due to both being in there etc?

One female does tend to come out for a bit but now again they’re both in there again.
Not really sure what to do, my dad wanted to leave them to be so we didn’t cause them stress.

*EDIT* the baby cockatiel that died had no blood on it what so ever, nothing missing etc... just looked normal [emoji22]*

Sounds like you have a threesome of cockatiels on the go. If the hens aren't fighting and are happy to share the nestbox leave them be. Without knowing the dynamics of the relationship it's better to leave well enough alone. It's not common but I have heard of three cockatiels nesting together, albeit was 2 males and one female.

As for the dead baby it could have been any number of things from being too cold, too hot, not put together properly or something went sour in it's crop plus a hundred other things in between. I don't think suffocation as the older baby is still alive. These things just happen.

I just read a post on another site, yesterday, about a breeder who has a three-some who regularly lay eggs and raise the babies together. Two females and one male and they all seem quite happy and have raised many healthy babies together!
