So basically, Lexa has a small brown scab-looking mass above her cere. I noticed it a while ago, but I shrugged it off. It hasn’t gone away, and now I am worried. It doesn’t seem to be bothering her; she is as lively as ever, and she’s never scratching it or rubbing her head against anything. However, I have noticed that she is pooping less often and she is not eating her food. She will eat when I’m training with her, but not when she’s in her cage (I’ve never really had trouble with this before) Her poops are the same, and they look healthy. She is just not pooping as often as she has in the past. (This is probably from her not eating). I am concerned that she possibly has mites? I’d say her beak looks normal, and so does her vent. Her skin is normal as well. Her feathers don’t look great, but she’s molting so she has a lot of pain feathers.

I would consult my Avian vet, but she recently got in a car accident (the weather here is TERRIBLE, all of the roads are very icy! I’m surprised I haven’t got in an accident at this point!) and is unable to go to work for the next few weeks.

Please if you have any idea what’s going on, tell me!

Feel free to ask any questions!

Thank you so much!!

Looks like a possible fatty mass or could be something a bit more sinister, get onto your vet as soon as she is well
Is it fleshy, hard, flakey or anything like that?
Thanks

It is hard. Not flakey, doesn't feel like flesh. It feels exactly like a scab.

Ok, take her to the vet anyway and they will conclude what it is, might be something sinister or might be just fatty, the vet will tell you
Thanks

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
Yeah- birds hide illness so I would def. take her to the vet. Sorry- I know that is never what anyone wants to hear, but with birds, it is usually the best answer.

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
It looks EXACTLY like what I had to deal with Amy. His was a cyst of some kind. Located at the top of one of his noses. It warranted a trip to his CAV were Doc Kristin used a syringe to suck the yucky crap out then gave me a bottle of antibiotics. She said it "could" be cancerous but it wasn't. Amy is fine now,the mass is gone. I'd get your little one in asap.
