Blood at the bottom of the cage

Hello! I came home from work and checked on the tiels as usual and noticed there is blood on the cage liner. 3 big drops, to be exact and definitely not mixed in with the stools. I checked them over but can't seem to find the source of it. Both birds are their usual, happy selves, they don't seem lethargic or fluffed up in any way. Kaila is growing in some feathers on her wings so my first thought is she may have broken a blood feather. There was no blood other than those 3 (dried) drops and no trace of it on the birds. Should I be more worried? Money is pretty tight right now, but of course if this warrants a vet visit, I'll take them. Would probably have to look for a different one though since my go to vet for exotic pets is outside the city and travel is restricted by police blockades these days.

Thank you!

Re: Blood at the bottom of the cage

Feathers can hide a multitude of sins as I learned to my sorrow.
Were there any loose feathers on the bottom of the cage?

All of my problems with blood loose with my Tiels have been feather related. Usually it's the feathers at the tip of the wing that get damaged. Cockatiels have a tendency to "Night Fright" but for my birds it can happen anytime.

It sounds like a small amount so if I were in your position I would just monitor closely.
Any reoccurrence and I would make the trip to the vet.

Re: Blood at the bottom of the cage

Not too many feathers at the bottom. Just 2 tail feathers, but very close to the blood drops.

My biggest concern is that I couldn't find the source or confirm which one bled, though I'm fairly sure it's my girl since my boy is a whiteface (so blood is usually pretty easy to spot) and the blood was directly below one of her preferred perches. I'd honestly have felt a lot less worried if I'd found the broken blood feather, but since I can't I just have this "what if it's something else" fear that I know isn't all that reasonable.

They may have pulled blood feathers. Sometimes they bleed a little when pulled out even if unbroken.
