:yellow1:Rather than making new posts and taking up room, I'll just use this for future updates and photos of our flock of tiels.

The first photo is of our sweet hen Dacey who gave us our first clutch last year. As stated before, we lost her about two weeks after all four chicks had hatched. The second photo is of her daughter Sunny who looks more like her mother everyday!

I think it's a wonderful idea to use an ongoing thread to document your 'tiel journey.

That way, we all know where to go when we want to check in on the Texas 'Tiel Guy and his flock!

An update on our current clutch of babies. While Woody laid 6 eggs, we have 4 chicks. The first egg cracked (somehow) and the other turned bad before hatching. The first baby should open it's eyes any day now.

Well folks, I guess there's not much point to posting updates around here if nobody is going to read them. It seems unless you have a sick or dying bird, no one is interested.

Not true- in my case, if I am busy, I only respond to the really urgent ones and then reply to the rest later. Just spent my day working from 6am-10pm (miserable day).
Post away though, just be patient friend. I wouldn't have seen this post if I weren't reading your updates now, would I? And only 3 minutes after you posted! haha

Also-pictures help ;)

OMG- I don't know if you have ever seen the "Labyrinth" movie, but these guys look like a Jim Henson creation. Very cute and funny at the same time.

Just a few favorites...

The first is an older photo of Kiwi making like a sun conure! It's been my experience with tiels to know that it is rare to see them holding there food with a foot like this to eat. I'm not saying it won't happen but you just don't see it very often. The second photo is my little guy Buzz last year. This is the bird that REALLY got me into the whiteface mutation.

Kiwi looks A LOT like a mini-cockatoo in that first picture lol! My bird (probably 5x her size--a cockatoo) does that pose all of the time-when eating or just messing with stuff. Cute!
That white-face mutation is very cool and unique. Sweet birds!

:30:parents Kiwi and Woody take a break!

I'm guessing there both a little tired of looking at tiny babies so they pick something bigger than them.... In this case a Sun conure Rio! The babies are doing fine, just eating, sleeping, and pooping! I tried my best to get a photo of Kiwi doing his conure trick by holding his treat while Rio looked on! Woody is taking herself an extended break by sitting on my shoulder preening as I type this!

Updated baby photos.

You can sure tell who the first hatch was! He (or she) will be two weeks old tomorrow. All are doing fine and the parents are eating like a couple of horses!

An update on the parents!

Kiwi and Woody. I'm well aware that parent birds while feeding there young will always eat more but you guys should see these two! Normal feeding for other birds is twice a day....morning and evening. I've been feeding this pair 3 and sometimes a 4th meal a day! The minute I open there cage, Kiwi will jump on my shoulder and more or less scream till I put food in the bowel. As soon as I put the two food bowels back in the cage, they BOTH go after it like there starving to death! This is not just a few times, but EVERYTIME! I don't know if age has anything to do with it but Kiwi didn't act like he was starving with his first clutch......nor did Dacey eat like that either. I guess these babies are just extra hungry!
