I have a little cockatiel named Walnut! (Finally an official name :D) she is very cute, we are learning together
I always thought that he was right handed, because after waking up (sleeping with one foot) his right foot would be warm. Recently, he was sleeping in my shoulder and sadly I had to leave, but I noticed that he took his right foot out of his fur(?) ! (That explains why it was warm LOL) It's a fun little thing to notice, and althought research shows that most birds are left-handed, maybe you'll find something different! :)

DYH Amazon
Over the many decades of being owned by Amazons, I have noted that they switch feet over-night. Although they have a preference, they will switch.

The best way to check the dominate leg of a Parrot is, which one they 'regularly' choose to lift when asked to 'step-up.' They can switch-off, but they have a clear dominate...

Over the years my two have demonstrated their differences not just in sexuality...Ellie is a leftie and Bertie is a rightie...every time:D.

Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Salty is 100% a leftie. He even uses his left foot to push away my hand or finger when he does not want to be picked up or interacted with. And, he typically will not step up for my right hand, has to be my left hand.

I have a galah I thought to wave. He waves with the right and eats with the left.
