I have my umbrellas in the house (this month) normally out in the aviary. Anyway 10pm was bedtime and yet everytime I put them in their cage and say goodnite Sarah just screams in the dark... (very weird) but I think she's getting ready to lay eggs again and whenever she does she is impossible to satisfy... so here it is 11:20pm and I am awake with two umbrella toos preening eachother and hanging out on top of their cage.
I was late waking them up today, but they really don't usually stay up so late.... (It doesn't help that Sarah misses my husband and she's been a little cranky with him being gone for two months)... I'm so sleepy... they get 10 more minutes... lol :)

I was about to do a "spider search".... if Moe or Sarah sees a spider they will scream endlessly until I find and kill it.... (one of the reasons they never spend the night in their outside flight, I'd wake up at 3am to a too screaming like the world was comming to an end only to discover a daddy long leg on their flight cage).

Moe is weird anyway (all curtains have to be pulled closed at night, or he screams when he sees an open dark window... He may be a nut, but he's my nut :) ) I ran into a burning building to save him, so I guess spiders and dark windows are nothing...lol

And I thought it was only the greys that were afriad of things like that. My Rosie screamed in fear when I gave her some very small buttons to play with. You just never know. Wish we could see inside of their mind to understand better.

That's pretty brave! What a lucky flock to have you! I don't know if I could enter a burning building. If Alex, my family or other pets were in their, probably, but what a daunting thing!

I'm lucky. My boy sleeps like a LOG every night. :p

You'd be amazed what that "mommy" instinct will drive you to do! My husband ran in after me (when I didn't come back out right away.... and he helped me grab Moe and Sarah (when we entered the room both Carbon monoxide and the smoke detectors were going off.... All I clearly remember was that Moe didn't want to step up, and I said "Moe I don't have time for step up"... poor guy I brabbed him around his neck and around his legs and pulled him out.

After the fire a lot of people said they were afraid to ask me if I had been able to get Moe out alive (Moe is my baby, I love all my birds, but rehabbing Moe changed me a lot and I bonded with him a lot, he was also my husband and my first bird together. :) I suppose you can tell I am partial to Moe and Sarah (the birds in my avatar). I really do love all the birds, but Moe and I have a lot of history... and now add running into a burning building...lol

Indian Ringneck: Damien

RIP: Dempsey & Winston
I am lucky too because Thankfully Damien likes his sleep a lot and will often take himself to bed! He is an early riser tho, demanding his children tv program and breakfast LOL!

Yep I got early risers too . I have also taught my birds a bad thing though in case of fire I have taught them to climb up on my clothes and all the way to my shoulder . I also keep a pillow case by each cage in case I dont have time to wait for them . Grab them throw in pillow case I think they would forgive me if they smell smoke LOL !!! Im glad you were able to get them out at least .
