I've been talking to a lady near by whose husband got diagnosed with Lung Fibrosis. So now she's trying to find home for her beloved 10yr old U2. Im going to visit the bird tomorrow to see how it goes. Not definite yet, being told by my partner that the bird MUST like both of us inorder to bring him home. Its because Willie is hateful to my partner since day one when I brought him home. Even worse now during his hormonal period....so I guess we'll find out tomorrow when we visit....

Best of luck! I know how your partner feels though, the sunnie is bonded with my boyfriend and isn't very loving towards me. He's better but it's not the same. When we were looking for a grey, we picked the one that picked me.

I love U2s, hopefully this bird finds its way from one loving home into yours!

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
When we adopted our U2, our 17yr. old son was his main man as far as handling Amigo, feeding him, putting him to bed for the night. Amigo was in love and did not care much for the rest of us. After my son left for college, I became caretaker and he took right to me. When my son comes home on his school breaks, Amigo does not care for my son much! He was also very territorial towards my husband so I suggested that he, my husband, get more involved in the mornings with opening up the curtains in Amigo's room and take over his morning feedings. It helped a lot, so I'm thinking, if your partner is involved with the care of your new bird from the get go, it might help and don't be surprised if the bird likes your partner more than you! I wish you the best of luck!

My partner actually does the feeding most of the time. But the birds choose who they want. It wont bother me if he prefers my partner over me. I do all the training though! :)

It can be hard when birds don't like your partner or other family members. My BC hated my ex bf. He gave her all her special yummy foods every day, but in 2 years time, nothing changed. It really hurt his feelings.
