When I first got him, he would eat nothing but his peanuts and maybe a bite or two of dried mango. Well now from last night he has had a full meal deal. He had chicken, noodles and Watermelon. He's tried the watermelon and doen't care for it like he does the noodles and the chicken, but he's curious about it. So I'm just waiting for him to decide to like it.

I'm sure in short time you will get him to eat many more healthy foods!:D

Good job!Keep it up and us updated on how you get on!:D

Phoeb will try almost anything right now (just seeing me eating it and she wants it:D), tried the watermelon and she likes it but I don't offer it often because I think it's useless nutritionally. If I am wrong on this please correct me, I would like to know...:D

Try #2 ... I tried to post this once then I flubbed up and hit the wrong button! LOL

...

Chewy, that is fantastic news!! Progress is always encouraging, yes?

I, only once, offered watermelon to my fiddies. Timothy was the only one that gave it a nibble. Moj and Cec turned their beaks up at it.

pheob ... I think you might be right about the nutritional value of watermelon. It is however, an excellent source of moisture when traveling (as it is impossible to offer water while en route lest it spill everywhere--unless you use a water bottle and your fid is accustomed to such). Most, or many, fruits offer a good moisture content and are good to offer while on the road/on the go (apples, grapes, etc.).

Corn is another food that Moj LOVES, LOVES, LOVES -- the sweeter the better. But, it too does not contain much in terms of nutritional value.

I'm a push over and Moj still does get his corn ... but, he has good and varied eating habits ... so, he gets his way with me! LOL

All of my guys love their corn, I cut up bits of the cob and put them in their cages, I hang them up for the fids, or hide them in their cages, they look so happy when they finally find it. :D

Oh, Chewy, that is very heartwarming! You are a god to him :) ... it is very apparent that you are both extremely bonded. That is just great! :D :60:

My little Popsicle is very picky finally got her to eat some things. She loves carrots once I ate them first. Pepsi on the other hand will eat almost anything. Don't forget to offer them things more then once, just becuase they don't seem to like it or won't try it don't mean anything. Pepsi hated apples until the other day now she loves them.

Oh yes, Erin, I agree with Tracy. Offer, offer, offer. That is my motto. My Cecil would not touch human food for the world. I kept offering it to her relentlessly and now she ventures a taste or gobble (whatever her fancy at the time). It can take quite a while with individual birdies.

Kito used to be the same way, and if I put human food in his bowl with his fruit and veggies (obviously there not human foods ) he wouldn't touch them. Now as long as its in his bowl in his cage he'll eat anything. He won't touch it out of the cage but will go in to eat it.

He's a strange one that one. :D

Keupi - a Senegal.
YEAH!!! I love hearing stories about fids and foods. Keupi loves those chinese noodles as well. (He also loves Moo Goo Gai Pan.)

Corn is great. I like the baby ones better than the full out cob but that's due to a funny story. When he was two (he's now five) he scared the daylights out of me because I put a piece of corn on the cob on a kabob (rhyme-time) and when I went back - there was nothing left - no corn, no cob. In a panic I called the vet because I didn't know if the 'cob' could become impacted, where was the cob? He had shelled the corn (took out the nugget and left the shells) but the cob was gone. Well, turns out that 'cob' looks very much like shredded paper once it's turned into fid spitballs. I was told to look for these little balls of evidence and sure enough - food toy!! Seems they like to chew it up and spit it out. He still gets the regular during the summer but the baby ones (where he eats the nugget and discards the cob) are better handled by 'mom.'
