Went to a new pet store and fell in love. This little girl sings, talks and has the cutest little voice I have ever heard. She was friendly with everyone and wanted scratches and attention. I know they aren't all so sweet and loveable... do they stay this way?

Then there was this little baby who was just too precious for words.. she is still being handfed and made this cute little whimpering noise when i picked her up..she curled up in my neck and tried getting food from me.

A Bare-eyed and a U2... you're in trouble now ;)

My only saving grace is that they want 900$ for the bare-eyed and even more for the U2. That and I would much rather take in one from a bad home off cl or something. These guys are at least being very well cared for.

Very valid point! I paid $800 for Sugar, even though she was well cared for (on Consignment, a rehome) but I have no regrets. CL gives me the willies :(

Yes they can stay that way. I LOVE Toos. I think that they get a really bad reputation. A lot of people tend to stay away from them because of what they hear from other people. I know several people with Toos that have no problems with them, that may be because they are in amazing homes. If they are in a good home and their needs met they can make really lovely birds. I'm completely IN LOVE with my M2. Shes amazing. The key to having a Too is that you cant allow them to run your life. You have to set up a structured schedule and stick to it. They thrive off of routine. They can be demanding at times (like a diva) and throw temper tantrums when they dont get their way. There is a U2 on craigslist that has been posted, not sure what kind of deal you would get. Expect the first year or two to be a little difficult with a re-homed Too. It can take them a little longer to adjust to a new routine (they like to fight that routine at first) but once they settle in they are lovely.

It took Rome about 9 months to settle into our routine. That was 9 difficult, screaming all the time months but we pulled through it and the last 3 months have been a dream. She came to me over spoiled so it took a while for her to gain some independence. She didn't know how to entertain herself. It took her 6 months before she even touched a toy. Now she plays independently for most of her day.

the last one, was in leeds they had lion head rabbits, kittens, all kinda fish, reptiles and insects (i love stick insects!) and one lonely looking cockateil :( it really hurt for me to have walked away from it, it was in a nice clean cage, small, perspex front, at the back of the store, where is was rather dimmly lit :(

They get a bad reputation because most of them are very very true!!!! And your right about not letting them run your life cause once they start, it's hard to stop them. Java attacked me when I told him no, he was sleeping in my lap and woke up and wanted to come up to my face and I told him no. He went off in a rage and started attacking me, biting my arms, hands, everywhere. Think of the attack IF he was near my face. I had blood drenching everywhere and I still had to be calm and put him away. He was allowed to run the house in his previous home and now I'm trying to get him off that and it hasn't been a simple task.

Our other too Dixie, it took me years to get her to where she is today, she's a total sweetheart and loves to be out and about. They can all be sweet yes, but it takes total commitment and being able to tell a bird no when you need to and don't give in. Cockatoos will use that weakness against you!

Yeah, getting a re-home that is used to running the house would be a problem. Definitely have to closely evaluate a re-home Too before bringing it home. See how it behaves in its current home first and then decide.
