Do larger parrots have more perception than smaller parrots?

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
Now that I am a proud parent of a goffins cockatoo, I can not help but notice the differences between she, Sassy, and Amigo. While she is such a happy-go-lucky, full of energy girl, Amigo has more of a calm and designing way about him.

I would not call him more intelligent, not sure how to put this,, maybe, more savvy? He just acts a lot more mature, maybe is what I'm trying to say. That's got to be the difference between goffins and umbrellas. One is a lot more serious than the other!

I'm totally loving the contrast!

The little toos seems to be more playful and silly compared to the bigger toos. While the bigger toos wants loving loving loving and it's ALL about them. And the smaller toos prancing around checking out everything in their path. As long as it doesn't freak them out of course. But they're super curious. That's why they're a better choice of the toos IF someone must have a too.....

You can't really compare a large free flighted umbrella to a little (in house) goffins...

Amigo will show a lot of confidence from his outings, where he no doubts finds food, toys etc...

Smaller cockatoos have a much calmer temperament than the larger ones, as well...

Amigo might also be a lot older than your goffins... I forget how old she is...

"The Parrots of OZ" on tv described the Galahs as the clowns of the parrot world. Aren't Goffins similar in temperament?

Yeah, G2s are absolute clowns! They are little balls of energy constantly doing all kinds of cute things. They are kind of like the black headed caique of the Too world (but without the beaky part). If one was to get a Too and they want an outgoing easy bird they would be looking at the G2s, RB2s, and Bare Eyed 2s. The bigger Toos are a lot harder to keep happy and are more challenging to have (and aren't as emotionally stable as the smaller ones).

I agree Mare, the bigger Toos seem to be more serious and the smaller ones seem to approach life more whimsically.
