Rib eating Cockatoo..who knew!

So I was eating some ribs and I remember Purl's former owners saying that she liked chicken and chicken wings/bones. (To canabalistic to me!!) So I took the rib bone and gave it to her to play with and taste. She was going to town on it. She then proceeds to jump off her perch onto me..runs down my arm and trys to steal my rib meat. So I give her a chunk..OMG..she was going nuts for it. I mean I know my ribs are good but really????

I guess from now on I have to make some extra for the little princess.

lol shes so spoiled

. im a veg, but i LOVED ribs, im getting hungry just thinking about it lol. just be careful of whats in the sauce. have a great day ( and dinner lol

LOL, what a character!! At this point, just about anything Sugar would go nuts to eat over, I'd be all about giving her some. Glad Purl is being such a little diva!

Not so odd. Sunny loves chicken drumsticks and ribs. She is not so fond of the meat as she is of the bones. She expertly cracks them and eats the marrow. This is something she seems to know about instinctively. I have talked to many bird people whose birds love these things.

Not too much sauce on it..I ate the top layer then gave her the inner chunk. I swear she went in her cage and was picking the rib meat out of her beak..LOL!!

I then ate a cheese stick because I was still a little hungry. (I'm on a pretty carb free diet) She was looking at me..looking at it. So I peeled off a thin string (about 2 inches long)..she grabbed it and munched on that as well.

Oy..I'm in trouble.

My birds eat meat if given a chance. I don't do much pork, but salmon and eggs are their favorite. Sometimes they'll eat taco meat. I don't let them have stuff like that very often because animal protein in large amounts isn't that great for them. But a couple times a month or so they get a small piece of meat.
