HI, GUYS! I've missed you all!
SO SORRY I've been totally MIA for awhile. We've had a lot going on, everything from new member of the family (Ricco, obviously) to my dad being in the hospital, etc.
Ricco is doing great! He's really settling in now and showing his true colors... Hehe. It's been over two weeks now so I'm assuming we are past the "honey moon" stage. He's definitely found his voice LOL. He's not a screamer per say, but he does have a voice on him! He does scream when I'm out of the house, like if I go outside to smoke or out front to take the trash out, etc. And I can hear him all the way down the driveway with the windows closed LOL. And BOY is he messy! Whew. He's also plucking... Not sure why but he goes back to the vet in about a week or so for all his testing. I'm ready to get that over with.
And now for the good stuff: First of all, even though he is loud, my parents (for those who don't know, we live in my parents' guest house) are completely fine with him. I always apologize to my mom for him screaming and she just shrugs and says "doesn't bother me any." LOL. I don't know why it would seeing as how she has three dogs, one of them being a Beagle... He's LOUD. Anyway, so that's good! He is SO sweet... to me. I've yet to find one other person that he'll tolerate, but he does LOVE his mama. He hates my partner, he is becoming better with my mom, he hates my dad, my brother, my aunt, my grandma, and every friend that I've had over. LOL.
Thankfully, he gets along great with my dogs and my dogs don't bother him at all. I don't know how I got so lucky with this situation, but I sure did! None of my dogs even look at him and I can play with him on the floor and the dogs will just stay sleeping on the couch LOL. It's great!
He's getting much more outgoing with toys and stuff. He loooooves to shred playing cards, paper, toilet paper, and old pictures. He doesn't ingest any of it, just shreds it. Oh yeah, and he loooves to shred the vet wrap on his playstand! LOL. He also loves his showers every other day and then we go outside to dry.
I took him on his first walk yesterday on our trail. He was pretty good! Just sat on my shoulder and looked around. He also went for his first car ride with me and looooved it! He sang with me LOL.
He now says:
Ricco, Hey Ricco, Pretty bird, Step up, and my favorite, the kiss noise! He picked that one up in just a day. He'll lean into my face and make the kiss noise it's so cute!
FUNNY STORY:
I went to the grocery store the other day with a friend of mine and my partner stayed home. She opened Ricco's cage for him because he likes to climb around on it. Apparently one of the dogs ran into the cage which freaked Ricco out and he fluttered out and onto the ground. I wasn't there, all I know is that I got a frantic call from her saying "I need you to come home right now! Your bird is AGH, on the ground, AGH, and he's, AGH, attacking me!" LMAO. So I came home to sweet, little Ricco perched on the bottom of a chair. As soon as he saw me, he walked over and stepped up for me and I put him back on his cage. Apparently while I was trying to get home, he attacked her feet and trapped her in the kitchen. Lmao.
Well, I just thought I'd give you guys an update. I love him already. He's my buddy, we surf the web together, watch TV together, sit outside together, take walks together, take drives together, shower together, share food (healthy food of course!), etc. He's the best.
