How is your bird different during breeding/not breeding season?

My Galah Rosie is usually pretty good but in the morning when I uncover she would glare at me without moving and if I touch her she bites me really hard. I avoid putting my face near her when she had her extra hormonal day lol.

Now that breeding season is over I she doesn't care at all in the morning, even when I have to uncover her at 5 or 6am in the morning she is all excited and happily lets me pet her before going to work.

that's the biggest change I've noticed with Rosie and I'm so happy she isn't biting me at all lol. Maybe next year I'll figure out a way to make her a morning person during breeding season lol

Rosie is gorgeous. I have no experience yet, this is my second full day with my bird. I just love looking at Galahs, though.

Aw I love Galahs too. So beautiful! When I first got Oliver he was in the last bit of his hormonal stage, now he's not full on "I want to attack your hand!!!" mode. Bella and Zora are still only 5 mos., but Zora is going through her 'baby' stage. Bella seems fine, odd enough.

I don't see much of a change in my female cockatoos. Ariel who normally doesn't do the female squat and shudder hormonal thing except around her cage, might show a little more of that away from her cage. Sometimes I have to watch the petting under the wings just a little bit. Its generally a transient thing rather than an all season long, all day issue. Sometimes I'll notice her spending more time at the bottom of the cage, anting little bits of stuff into her feathers and generally acting like she's zoning out. However, often times a few more toys, a change in routine or something to mix up her life a little is all that is needed to snap her out of it. I've had Ariel for almost 11 years.

My goffin's is a rehome and she's just strange period for a cockatoo. Not sure how much of it is her natural personality vs. her first owners. She sometimes gets into a snit and can try for a face grab. There isn't a real noticable pattern to it, so I'm not sure its hormonal or just what she does when she gets over excited. Overall, I'm a very happy owner of two female cockatoos. Breeding season doesn't scare me a bit.

I've noticed my Galah who I have had since last winter has been a bit more nippy and cranky , not too bad at all since I have learned to keep my distance...she can be extremely lovable , but that's only till she gets you off guard or close enough so she can get in a really good nip , lolol. You just got to be on your toes with Rosie

My Yoshi isn't old enough yet. ( THANK GOD ). . He's only my little baby !!!!!
