mature galah or goffins

Hello! I am trying to decide on a goffins or a galah cockatoo. I own a bf amazon that we rescued and was very aggressive so im not a first time bird owner. Amazons however are not very affectionate so i would like to add a too to my flock! Ive been to mytoos and know what i am getting into with a cockatoo. I already own material and believe in trick training. I am just wondering out of the two which one is usually less aggressive, and loving after it is mature. I know alot of times each bird is just different but i would like to hear from bird owners what their experiences have been.

I would personally go for the Galah! They are not quite so loud as the Goffins.

Goffins are great little birds. They do have a massive voices though. The rosies are beautiful and from what I hear are more of perch potatoes, whereas goffins are little bundles of energy. I think they both have the capacity to be very loving.

While not yet quite mature, Chewbaca earned her name because she is always chewing. Their day perch is in the center of the area we call Middle Mess. At one end is wifey's jewelry making area and the tv, and the other end is my desk and computer work area. Just now, Chewy came down off their perch and climbed up me, trying to chew whatever was in reach. She has now settled down on my shoulder, making little funny noises. If I were wearing a shirt, she would be stealthily chewing the shoulder seam. I wouldn't notice a thing until the shirt was laundered.

Between her chewing and excessive dander, she leaves a trail of trash. but look at the love for Greybeard on her face.

I wonder if she'll outgrow the chewing obsession?

PortaPerch, I think, in general, ALL cockatoos like to chew! I'm not familiar with galahs but RescueMe hit the nail on the head when saying goffins are a bundle of energy! Our little Sassy is so entertaining and only loud on occasion, NOTHING like an umbrella 'too!! Our goffins is also a sweet natured bird.

My Sugar (Goffin) isn't as energetic as the many others I've heard about, such as Mare's. She gets spurts, but they don't last very long and then she's content to perch and beak grind or take a nap. She is extremely affectionate, a complete and total cuddle bug (with me, though, not so much with anyone else in the house). However, Sugar is not mature, she's not even 2 yet.

And yes, ALL birds love to chew, but I definitely think that Too's are a little more prone to it. I also have no experience with Gallah's, so I can't really compare.

I heard that goffins need more attention then galahs. like say you have a galah and you spend 1-2 hours petting and loving him then he's content and happy with the attention but a goffins would need 3-4 hours to be content? not sure how true that is. Every galah i've seen is the most playful little bird i've ever seen! with the exception of caique's of course haha

Galahs do need physical and mental attention but unlike some cockatoos they are sometimes just happy to be in the same room as you. I'll bring out a perch(with food and water and toy) and let Rosie sit on it while I watch TV and she's happy being around me. Rosie is a 20+ year old galah and more calm then the average Galah.

Sugar is pretty content most days to just be in the same room. She does like her physical attention, but it's certainly not 3-4 hours worth a day. Loki gets about 2 (GCC) which is lower than the recommended amount, but all he requires. Anything beyond that is pushing his limits. Sugar welcomes almost any and all physical attention time, but you can also tell when she's had enough. I don't think she's ever gone much beyond 1 straight hour before needing a break. I'm home a lot (I don't work and I'm homeschooling our daughter) so they do both get physical attention throughout the day, so I'm not sure how much that plays in to it.

So the amount of physical attention I think also can come down to individual birds needs/preference.
