I just adopted a 9 year old bare eyed cockatoo.....i'm hoping for some suggestions with several of his behaviors....First off it's almsot entirely impossible to keep rodney off of our shoulders and when he gets there he wont come down and bites harder and harder the more you try to get him down from shoulder he's ok. if he's left alone while he's up there.....Also, he will get out of the cage while i'm cleaning it and sit on the playtop and it can go for a long long time before he will get back in as he will just bite hard when anyone attempts to put him back in the cage....i've had him for a month now and for the for the first time he attempted to attack two of my birds....well hoping for some suggestion from the cockatoo folks thank you all

13yr. old male umbrella cockatoo,
we call him Amigo!

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
A bare eyed is similar to a goffins, correct? If so, I can give you my experience with my goffins. Mine is a female and she LOVES to be on shoulders, not biting you is a plus. When trying to get her off my shoulder, I will approach her cage and do a little dive to throw her off balance, she'll jump onto her cage but you better move away quickly because she is cage aggressive!, meaning, she will bite the c##p out of you, if you don't!

My Sassy goffins is a joy in all other respects. How I get her into her cage for night-time is, I bought a feather duster, that she loves, and I nudge her into her cage at bedtime, while she says, sweetly, in a quiet wisper, night night Sassy, night night Sassy... You can't be aggressive around these birds, even if they are being that way towards you. Suck it up, be calm in all situations, otherwise, you will make matters worse.

Cory: Short billed Corella -
Echo: Galah -
Max: Alexandrine -
Skye: Yellow Sided conure -
Luka: Green Cheek Conure -
RIP Shrek: Quaker
They might be the same size, I've never seen a Goffin - They are both called corellas... I found this site:

Check Out The Small Cockatoos: The Goffin's Cockatoo, The Slender-Billed Corella & The Bare-Eyed Cockatoo

and noticed this bit:

Bailey believes one of the major differences between bare-eyed and Goffin’s cockatoos is in the way that they bond to their human flock. She believes that the bare-eyed cockatoos are more in sync with the people in their lives, while the Goffin’s are a bit more self-absorbed.
