What's the problem with 21? You need to meet the bird and see if she likes you. If so, you are lucky! At 21, she might not outlive you. That is not a bad thing. She is who she is--not a baby, not a teenager. This is also not a bad thing. If she is a healthy and happy creature happy to meet you, then I can't imagine a better opportunity!

Ricco - Goffin's Cockatoo
She's very young still... Have you done all of your necessary research? What kind of Cockatoo is she? Umbrella? Moluccan? Goffin's? Rose Breasted? Sulfer crested?

Have you owned a bird before? If not, have you done lots of research (read - years of research) and tried to gain as much experience as possible?

Cockatoos are not a light commitment. Please go to All About Cockatoos - MyToos.com.

7yr. old Goffin cockatoo, she IS Sassy!!
What kind of 'too is she? I agree with Sarah, if she likes you,,big plus! Are you familiar with these birds, their personalities, their needs? The large 'toos can be complicated.

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
Wow. 80 years old. I didn't know that. I don't know much at all about cockatoos. He's only 21, that sounds like a great match if you are a young-ish person and can look forward to another half century plus together.

My Pritti is 30 years old and I pray he makes it to the end of his life span and beyond 40 or 45, which would be a very very long life from what I understand. Unless something unexpected happens to me, I will outlive him. I can't imagine how it would feel for me if I knew it would be the other way around and he'd lose the only person that he spends most of his life with, except for visiting friends and relatives.

I don't know your age, but maybe there's some mystical, magical reason why you are being connected with a 21 year old bird.

She is an umbrella there are two I'm looking the one that is 21 the umbrella and a 8 yr old Umbrella, mixed between umbrella and a muluccan he is younger although friendly and cuddly likes to lunge at kids owner says no biting kids just scare him the female no issues I own a African grey now but always have wanted a cockatoo. I would love to have a pinkish muluccan but don't see that happening. Just wanted advice about my choice.

These are beautiful birds to look at, living with them is totally different than what you may imagine them to be. Living with you, in the home, YIKES! I know, from experience. I'm gonna bet a few more people might pipe up. Maybe, not,,,I may be alone in my thinking.
